The photo of the killer has him wearing a soccer jersey. Article doesn’t say if they attended same school. Could be why he picked him up.

That was the article I was referring to, the one posted in comment #2. There is no mention of the race of the killer in that article.
You can infer they’re white by the phrase “The two young boys ...”. If they were black the word “boy” would not have been used; instead they would be called youths or teens. ;-)

Yeah, as a former OTR trucker, I was always driving a company truck that was not insured for passengers. I got flipped off by hitchhikers (even an occassional pretty lady) because I didn’t stop.
Recently while driving my faded paint, rusty old beater 1990 4x4 chevy, I offered a ride to a guy near our small town. I hadn’t shaved for a couple days and maybe looked threatening with a stocking cap and sunglasses. He kind of hesitated, then got in. Gave him a two mile ride to his house. He said, “wow, the interior of your truck is almost like new! I wasn’t sure what to think...”
I interrupted him, “..because it looks rough on the outside?” “It’s also quite sound mechanically. I like it that way. There’s no hesitation to take it through briars and brush, or to drive 1000 miles cross country.”

Life without parole is tool easy a sentence, slow hanging sentence would be more appropo. Michigan seems to be a dangerous place live with children committing hijackings and cold blooded murder at midnight. They need to legalize 10 year-olds an up to conceal carry. (sarc)
