Civilians flee embattled town as Ukrainian pullout looms
The Washington Times ^ | Saturday, March 4, 2023 | Mstyslav Chernov - Associated Press

KHROMOVE, Ukraine — Pressure mounted Saturday on Ukrainian troops and civilians hunkering down in Bakhmut, as Kyiv’s forces tried to help residents flee amid what Western analysts say may be preparations for a Ukrainian withdrawal from the eastern city that Russian forces have spent months trying to capture.

A woman was killed and two men were badly wounded by shelling while trying to cross a makeshift bridge out of Bakhmut on Saturday, according to Ukrainian troops who were assisting them.

A Ukrainian army representative who asked not to be named for operational reasons told The Associated Press that it was now too dangerous for civilians to leave the city in Donetsk province by vehicle and that people had to flee on foot instead.

Bakhmut has for months been a key target of Moscow’s grinding eastern offensive, with Russian troops, including large forces from the private Wagner Group, inching ever closer to Kyiv’s key eastern stronghold.

An AP team near Bakhmut on Saturday saw a pontoon bridge set up by Ukrainian soldiers to help the city’s few remaining residents reach the nearby village of Khromove. Later, they saw at least five houses on fire as a result of attacks in Khromove.

Why does this not feel like winning?

Fake news. The Russians don’t have any generals, ammo or troops left.

“Why were any civilians staying in that town?”

Because their homes and all their worldly possessions are there. This happens in all wars. Not all people are chickens.

Biden’s failed proxy war, can’t we just quickly skip to the last chapter?

Well, this is a quick narrative switch! I just recently read that Putin was practically on his death bed, Russia had lost all their fighters, and Ukraine had destroyed most of Russia’s tanks and weaponry.

I don’t believe any of the propaganda I read from either side of this war. I suspect the U.S. response will be to send more money! I also suspect a lot of military businesses are making a killing (no pun intended) off of the tax-payer dollars that are going to fund this war. Profits must have been woefully reduced during the years between 2017 and 2020 and something just had to be done to correct such a travesty!

The banksters finance both sides of wars.

Wars are good for business.

This Christopher Maffei? The September 11th 2001— The Fraud That Shaped The First Half Of The 21st Century, "The Parallel State that committed the September 11th attacks is still in power.".

Seeking informed commentary from 9/11 deniers is usually unwise, more so from those who publish 9/11 denialism on 9/11.

Maffei was prosecuted in 2012 for kidnapping his own kids from what he claimed was a abuse situation. Taking them on a stolen yacht did not help his case. He was sentenced to three years in jail and 16 months supervision.

As for his article about Ukraine, Maffei, like the rest of everyone saying Ukraine can not win, never not explain how Ukraine's military is wiped out every 2-3 months and Russia has not won. Western aid did not arrive that fast.

You people always discredit people. It doesn’t change what he said in this article as being true.

We are being lied to by our own leaders. I suppose the fact that the Russians didn't buy into American military doctrine is very upsetting to them. Modern warfare according to the Princesses of the Pentagon is all memes, storytelling, and smart bombs to slap around third world countries . The Russians are not playing that game. The Russians have mobilized for full conventional industrial warfare which has caught the pathetic leadership of the West with their pants down and their dicks in their hands.

The video games where the enemy has almost unlimited artillery are no fun for Westerners...
