The ‘newly-arrived border crossers’ no doubt have medical issues that need to be addressed, and each school-aged kid gets a taxpayer funded education—we’ve been told that is north of $30K/per year. And since the kiddos likely are not fluent in English, extra staff are needed to teach them the language.
The $166/day/illegal is likely less than half that is spent on them.

There are no stories about it, but I see all these foreigners in Costco paying with vouchers. In the diner, they are paying with vouchers ordering fancy food. Staying in hotels with food vouchers. Before they at least made a pretense they were illegal and were trying to get them out.
