Newly-elected Miami-Dade Commissioner Sabine Covo, who Florida Democrats have praised as being not only the future of their political party but as the first win for them in taking back the state, does not know the Pledge of Allegiance.

During a March 9 County Commission meeting, Commissioner Covo was asked to recite the Pledge.

"Commissioner Covo, could you lead us in the Pledge of Allegiance, please," asked someone within the Commission

"You don't know it? Ok," responded the same official to Covo, who could not be heard to answer the first question about reciting the Pledge.

The Pledge of Allegiance is communist. It is against the founding principals of the United States. George Washington would never approve of such a disgusting act of fealty.

To be fair, nearly everyone learns the Pledge in school. Covo went to school in her native Columbia and in Spain. Don’t know if the Pledge is a part of the citizenship exam or not.

Another country—Several sources have references to China’s student travel pledge:
Tens of thousands of Chinese students studying overseas on government-backed scholarships are required to sign a document pledging loyalty to the ruling Communist Party, as well as putting up guarantors who could be forced to repay their funding should they break the agreement, before arriving at overseas universities.

Students arriving had signed contracts pledging loyalty to their government while overseas, requiring them to serve China’s interests during their stay.

A review of publicly available documents found evidence that this practice has been going on quietly for more than a decade, with several versions of the contract and related regulations freely available online, RFA reported.

“During your time studying abroad, you must hone your sense of responsibility and your ability to follow orders, and not engage in any activities that could harm your country’s interests or national security,” the contract states.

“You must consciously protect the honor of the motherland and of your school, and abide by both the laws of China and the country where you are studying,” it says.

Students must also provide the names of two guarantors who countersign the document, in case a student fails to report to the local Chinese embassy or otherwise breaks the terms of the agreement, the documents revealed, RFA reported.

Anyone who tries to resign from their scholarship without authorization or who “behaves extremely badly,” or who just disappears or moves to another country or school without authorization will trigger the repayment of around one third of their funding by their guarantors, they show.

China had said it would send 27,000 students to study overseas on public money for all of 2021, and that their scholarships were entirely conditional on their party loyalty, including a pledge to “come back and serve their country” on completion of their studies, according to another publicly available document, RFA reported.

Radio Free Asia article.

One more reason why people not born here shouldn’t be running our country.

How can anyone not know the Pledge if they grew up saying everyday at school? Five options: 1.) Their schools did not recite the Pledge. 2.) She didn’t recite the Pledge, even if the schools did. 3.) She’s too low IQ to remember the Pledge. She is a Democrat after all. 4.) She refuses to recite it today as some kind of leftist anti-American statement. 5.) All of the above.

I can’t believe the way foreigners are taking over our government. Hell, maybe they’ll do a better job than the American slobs in there running it now.

Good point. But except when teaching school, I can’t think of many times or places I’ve been when the Pledge was recited. If the Pledge was a routine part of County Commission meetings, she should have been prepared.

In my humble opinion, the Pledge of Allegiance is lame and childish. An actual pledge, or Oath, needs only one occurrence to bind.

Geez really? No counter-point proving my opinion is in error? Just that I’m a troll? Open up your mind to alternative viewpoints a little bit. Think about what a person is actually doing with a Pledge of Allegiance. It is a pledge of blind loyalty to the flag for which it stands. It is not different from pledging allegiance to an individual, say Hitler or Stalin. This is very dangerous conformism that is fundamentally anti-freedom.
