FBI May Have Used FISA To Spy On The Congressman Overseeing FISA, Whose Renewal Is ‘Top Legislative Priority’ For Biden (Rep. Darin LaHood)

The FBI may have abused the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) to spy on the very congressman tasked with overseeing FISA, according to revelations at a congressional hearing Thursday.

Rep. Darin LaHood (R-IL), a member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, said at a committee hearing that he has reason to believe that he is the unnamed congressman who, a recently declassified report from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) admitted, FBI agents wrongfully conducted a search on.

LaHood is leading a working group tasked with oversight and renewal of Section 702 of FISA, Fox News reported. Last month, President Joe Biden asked Congress to reauthorize FISA provisions, calling it a “top legislative priority.”

“I want to make clear the FBI’s inappropriate querying of a duly elected member of Congress is egregious and a violation not only that degrades the trust in FISA, but is viewed as a threat to the separation of powers,” LaHood said at the hearing, according to Fox.

“I have had the opportunity to review the classified summary of this violation, and it is my opinion that the member of Congress that was wrongfully queried multiple times solely by his name was in fact me,” he said.

The ODNI report covering December 2019 to May 2020 says the FBI searched the name of a local political party and the name of a congressman, despite not being “reasonably likely” to reveal foreign intelligence or evidence of a crime.

A truly free republic cannot tolerate secret courts such as FISA. Once the architecture for suppression of liberty is in place it is only a matter of time before government will employ it for tyranny.

No more FISA and full criminal review of ALL warrantless searches of American citizens under the guise of the Patriot Act.

This must stop. The constitution is being ripped to shreds and NO law enforcement agency should do this.

Good tag line quote.

I hope they spy on him again. He refuses to do anything more than snivel in a hearing. Did he vote no on giving the FBI/Stasi a giant new multibillion dollar HQ? Did he vote to renew FISA?

If he voted yes on either, then he deserves to get spied on more.

If the FISA court was a Real Court and the FISA Judges were actually real judges, all these FBI, DOJ Frauds and Liars would have been LOCKED UP for contempt and referred by the Court for Criminal Prosecution for these actions. In other words, they are ALL ON THE TAKE!

It’s a government of the government, by the government, and for the government. Congress and POTUS who disagree are just elected officials to be spied upon and suppressed. They don’t want the people’s opinion, just your money.

LaHood voted YES. Consequences.....

U.S. House Bill 6172
Renew foreign surveillance authorization
To renew provisions of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance

Act (FISA) that permit the federal government to collect business records and other information during national security investigations without a warrant. The FISA law allows a federal judge to approve such collections without notifying the target or hearing opposing arguments. The bill would also to expand the circumstances that require FISA judges to hear from a government-appointed critic of such requests, and increasing the number of FISA courts.
Passed 278 to 136 in the U.S. House of Representatives on March 10th, 2020

Did not know about his father. Apple don’t fall far from the tree I guess.

Bottom line, the Stasi will not stop until they face brutal consequences from the Republicans. You will never get better than you demand.

Enough with ‘may’.

Any evidence of such merits immediate defunding of the fib pursuant to a long overdue prosecution of the players (and leaders).

The FBI now operates like the KGB, protecting “deep state” interests against anyone or anything they see threatening those interests. They are apparently above the law now and have the blessings of our corrupt DOJ. Our entire bureaucracy needs to be cleansed of these corrupt and evil people or our country is screwed. Actually it may already be too late.
