CHINA used green lasers fired from satellites to gather intelligence for a surprise hypersonic missile attack on Hawaii, it has been warned.
The satellite was recorded flashing lasers for a fraction of a second by a livestream camera attached to a telescope on top of a mountain on one of the islands.
Initially the lights were thought to come from a NASA satellite before it was finally established it was a Chinese pollution monitoring satellite the Daqi-1.
But questions immediately began to be raised about why the Chinese would feel it necessary to monitor pollution in Hawaii, given the large US military presence there.
And it comes just weeks after China flew a giant balloon over the US - which was widely understood to be a spy tool even as Beijing claimed it was a civilian weather airship.
Pearl Harbor on Oahu, Hawaii remains vital for the United States military and the presence of the satellite comes amid increased tensions between the US and China.

The problem is bigger than Trump not being in office. Even if he were it would only be for fours years, but the Chinese menace would continue.
It was atmospheric monitoring, as always with that satellite series. The locations on ground under where the laser flashes were directed have no strategic significance. And different laser wavelengths would be used for ground monitoring.
True that. The problem is an uneducated, ignorant populace that votes and a crooked voting system that installs whoever the Democrats want.

Anyone notice the contents of that Chinese balloon were never released? Why? Because it was barometers and thermometers and probably a wind speed sensor.
This whole spy instrumentation BS is utterly absurd. If they have put lasers on satellites, they can certainly put SigInt sensors or optical or anything else that actually would do spying, and would not want some huge balloon under them obscuring the view.
Imagine you’re in a briefing room and people are pitching ideas for spy missions. You have satellites ALREADY IN ORBIT asking for operations money. And you have some bozo with a balloon who says he wants to fly over the US and obscure all the in-orbit sensors while he does it.
Who in hell would fund that? No manager would undercut his primary intelligence for some bizarre thing.
THIS IS INSANITY.
The thing had propulsion? Hell yes. If you want to monitor the atmosphere over China you have propulsion to hold you in place so you don’t have to fund another and another and another.
That thing had a technical failure and created upheaval. It’s why the Weather minister was fired.

Sometime do some reading about 1945-1949 Chinese civil war.
Chiang Kai Shek, triumphant over the Japanese in 1945 (WWII), was booted out of his own country by Mao’s armies and took up residence on Taiwan. Took the Chinese gold reserves with him.
His wife was US educated. Grew up in the US. He sent her to the US and she became conduit for money paid directly to US congressmen and bought their cooperation in obstructing any recognition of Mao and retaining Taiwan as “China” at the UN.
It was this . . . this American corruption . . . that created today’s stress point in Taiwan. Do not think Taiwan is peopled by staunch Democracy lovers. They are corrupt to the core. Chiang’s people arrived and brutalized the native population. Took all the land. Took all the legislative seats — and they were a minority of the total population.
Taiwan is not some shining light of freedom opposing China. It is a 50 year old garbage heap that got funded to build semiconductors.

That was my opinion from the beginning. China has so many spies embedded in every fabric of our society (research, academia, government) a balloon would be like 3rd grade level intelligence gathering. Whatever they want to know they can probably just pull up on their computer screens.
Or simply ask one of their citizens working here on the project of interest, with a little exchange of pleasantries and some casual mention of how well their relatives are doing back in the Middle Kingdom...
