Leonard Leo, a leader of the right-wing Federalist Society, hopes to transform American culture the way he transformed the judiciary. As Donald Trump’s adviser on judicial nominations, he helped put Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett on the Supreme Court, making him central to the demise of Roe v. Wade.
Now he wants to build a new organization helping reactionaries consolidate power in realms like Wall Street, Silicon Valley, journalism, Hollywood and academia. “I spent close to 30 years, if not more, helping to build the conservative legal movement,” Leo said in a video for the organization at the heart of his strategy, the Teneo Network, reported by ProPublica and Documented.
“I just said to myself, ‘If this can work for law, why can’t it work for lots of other areas of American culture and American life where things are really messed up right now?’” That includes “wokeism in the corporate environment, in the educational environment,” biased media and “entertainment that is really corrupting our youth.”
He has access to enormous resources; last year a conservative financier donated around $1.6 billion to a dark-money group that he controls. And since many elites resent the congeries of behavioral norms and linguistic innovations denigrated as wokeness, the Teneo Network will start from a place of strength, pushing on an open door.
But while Leo’s grandiose project could pose a danger to liberalism, it is also a sign of existential crisis on the right. It demonstrates how conservatives are relying on fantastical ideas about wokeness to tie together a movement that has otherwise lost much of its raison d’être.

How is saving our culture an attempt to “transform it?

I’m actually surprised she didn’t launch into the tried and true attack: “that’s anti-Semitic” but I think she’s implying it without saying it.
I am so sick of journalists running the show. They always seem to target conservatives who are just trying to stop the madness. Which really is slow down the madness. Why don’t they ever do a story on liberals inundating their views on Americans in a negative light. At least if they did both views then people could make their decisions on both sides of an issue. But what happens is journalists always finds some poor schmuck who is pathetic to say, “see this is not fair. Conservatives are mean.”
And for her to say that abortion is over is such a lie. Blue states are expanding access. Red states are tightening but most are not banning. It’s such a ridiculous premise to say it’s all over.
Utter word salad. What a stupid bitch. Repeal the 19th.

“Wokeness” is just like communism.
It has to be imposed on the people, either by force, or by bringing it on sneakily.
Ask people if they understand what wokeness is, and most won’t be able to define it. Ask people what they understand communism to be, and most won’t be able to answer correctly.
Ask people if they want the individual policies that come from wokeness, and most will decline. Ask people if they want the consequences of communism, and the vast majority will decline.
Thus, only those who want to impose their agenda on the country, by force of by stealth, are ones talking about wokeness.
The irony is they havent realized yet it is them trying to pry normalcy away from society and tranform things. As a 51 year old with a 9 and 11 year old.... I dont not need to hear the words ‘transform’ come out of the mouth of a progressive trashbag. These folks use their fucked up takes on life to bludgeon those folks who hold tradition and meritocracy sacred into submission. Its not a choice to follow them, its a demand based on extortion...which makes them little more than narcissitic social gangsters.

The question is:
Will so-called “normal” people be allowed to think as they wish and follow traditional folkways that give them comfort, and a sense of identity; or must they (we) be overwhelmed and submit to the aggressive and accusative folks — who not so long ago were called “deviates.”
Say what you will, the sexual revolutionaries are still a small minority, and often a psychologically unhappy and troubled bunch.
