They know they have no case here. They just want to humiliate Trump and drag “Stormy” back into the public conversation.
Since there’s nothing illegal or shady about it, why didn’t Trump use one of his proper lawyers instead of going to someone like Cohen, who is the kind of scumbag you go to when you want dirty deeds done?
Threats of or a filing of a suit are often settled out of court for many reasons. Wealthy people often just see them as nuisance suits.
This is all about the politics of personal destruction.
It has nothing to do with laws or the legal system.
It wasn’t an NDA, President Trump simply paid off a grifter to avoid hurting his wife and son’s feelings. He would have done this whether he was running for office or not. In the end, all he got from this was his Virtue Damaged.
I think they’re doing this to collect photo images of Trump in handcuffs in a perp walk. They’ll be used for future campaigns and persecution of supporters.
