DeSantis slams ‘Soros-funded’ Manhattan DA for ‘weaponizing the office’ as Trump rumors swirl
FOX News ^ | 03202023 | Brooke Singman

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis slammed Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg on Monday as a "Soros-funded prosecutor" who is "pursuing a political agenda and weaponizing the office" as he reportedly considers indicting former President Donald Trump on charges related to alleged hush-money payments made to adult film star Stormy Daniels in 2016.

"And so you're talking about this situation with, and like, I don't know what goes into paying hush money to a porn star to secure silence over some type of alleged affair — I just I can't speak to that," DeSantis said.

"But what I can speak to is that if you have a prosecutor who is ignoring crimes happening every single day in his jurisdiction, and he chooses to go back many, many years ago to try to use something about porn star hush-money payments, you know, that's an example of pursuing a political agenda and weaponizing the office," DeSantis said. "And I think that that's fundamentally wrong."

I noticed that DeSantis pointedly said he can not speak as to what goes into paying hush money to a porn star, implying that Trump can. Not a nice thing to say about Trump, but I am sure it was in response to Trump's earlier claim that DeSantis was "grooming" high school girls when he reposted a photo purporting to show DeSantis drinking and partying with high school students when he worked as a teacher.

Trump can say whatever he wants about DeSantis, but DeSantis should act as Trump’s defense attorney.

Why are governors from other states interfering in states other than their own? Is that what we want?

that was one throwaway joke in a lengthy attack on the prosecutor yet its a betrayal while trump can tweet on and on how Desantis is a child molester and its all in good fun.

I mean, in all fairness Trump actually can talk about that. Your point about Trump hinting that DeSantis was involved with underage girls is fair, that was a shot below the belt by Trump. I think it would be good if these two could get along or at least not cheap shot each other, it doesn't help either one.

Em…No, Fox News, desantis said he wants to say nothing about Trump and a hooker.

It will be interesting to see what DeSantis does when he is falsely accused

But no, Fox. That pig lipstick is not going to do it.

He already has been falsely accused. And the same people who didn’t like it when Trump was accused, cheered when someone else was.

I agree with your response. Trump is the one who played nasty with DeSantis first.

DeSantis needs to crap or get off the pot.

If he's a candidate, then stop jerking the people of FL around and resign then. Declare your candidacy then.

Because we’re in the middle of a legislative session. He said he would announce, if he were running when session ends in May. The people of Florida don’t seem to have a problem with that.

So why is he running around the country with Jeb Bush and Paul Ryan donors instead of focusing on his job?

He said he would announce, if he were running when session ends in May. The people of Florida don’t seem to have a problem with that.

He can't just...wait until May?

Right. A guy blows another guy’s brains out and the surviving family should support the murderer.

NOT.

DeSantis appeared to dismiss the entire narrative, telling reporters that he has “real issues” to focus on in the Sunshine State.

“We are not involved in this [and] won’t be involved in this,” DeSantis said, reiterating that he has “no interest in getting involved in some type of manufactured circus by some Soros DA.”

“I’ve got so many things pending in front of the legislature. I’ve got to spend my time on issues that actually matter to people. I can’t spend my time worrying about things or things of that nature, so we’re not going to be involved in any way,” he added.

However, that answer did not sit well with Donald Trump Jr., who expressed that Democrats weaponizing the law to target the former president and 2024 presidential contender is, in fact, a “real issue.”

“So DeSantis thinks that Dems weaponizing the law to indict President Trump is a ‘manufactured circus’ & isn’t a ‘real issue,’ he said of the Florida governor, then added, “Pure weakness.”

He went on to state, “Now we know why he was silent all weekend. He’s totally owned by Karl Rove, Paul Ryan & his billionaire donors,” the eldest Trump son added, deeming DeSantis “100% Controlled Opposition”:

Session started on March 7th and goes until May. The legislature does not meet on holidays and weekends. Most of the Governor’s out of state appearances have been when the legislature is not in session.

Again, the residents of Florida seem to have no issue with it. DeSantis is at a 55% approval rating in the state, with 81% of Republicans and 59% NPA (independents) approving of his job performance.

DeSantis slams

Sounds like a GP headline but from Fox, about DeSantis. Guess they’re calling this one really early. LOL

Hi Paul Ryan.

Didn't have the guts to declare before 03/07. Hell, why even run for re-election then.

The legislature does not meet on holidays and weekends. Most of the Governor’s out of state appearances have been when the legislature is not in session.

I don't give a crap about FL's legislative sessions or schedule. If a candidate is running for President, he needs to step down from his existing job.

Again, the residents of Florida seem to have no issue with it. DeSantis is at a 55% approval rating in the state, with 81% of Republicans and 59% NPA (independents) approving of his job performance.

Of course they don't, because people no longer care about principles or ethics anymore.
