What Ex-Colonel Douglas Macgregor Has Said About Ukraine War
Newsweek ^ | 20th March 2022 | Natalie Colorossi

Posted on 03/22/2023 12:22:09 PM PDT by Cronos

...In multiple interviews, Macgregor has confidently predicted that the conflict will end with Russia "annihilating" Ukrainian forces and winning the war. One such interview, with Carlson, was aired on Russia's state-controlled TV.

..."The battle in eastern Ukraine is really almost over, all of the Ukrainian troops there have been largely surrounded and cut off. You have a concentration down in the Southeast of 30 or 40,000 of them, and if they don't surrender in the next 24 hours, I suspect Russia will ultimately annihilate them."

Macgregor added that he believed Zelensky needed to "negotiate the best deal he can get," even if that means surrendering parts of eastern Ukraine to Russian forces and declaring neutrality in Western Ukraine. Later in the interview, Macgregor claimed that Western media is working to "demonize" Putin and Russia, and added that the U.S. should stay out of the conflict—and avoid sending any aid to Ukrainian forces.

Days later, Macgregor appeared in an interview with Fox Business' Stuart Varney and claimed that Russian forces had been too gentle in their initial attacks.

"The first five days Russian forces I think frankly were too gentle," he said. "They've now corrected that. So, I would say another 10 days this should be completely over."

On Thursday, Macgregor told Carlson that he believes Ukrainians have already been defeated and that both nations "are very close right now to a ceasefire."

"The war is really over for the Ukrainians," Macgregor said

Note that this is from March 2022.

One year ago.

Douglas MacGregor has been predicting an imminent defeat of Ukraine for a solid year now

This is his statement from approximately 20th March, 2022, just over a year ago:

"The battle in eastern Ukraine is really almost over, all of the Ukrainian troops there have been largely surrounded and cut off. You have a concentration down in the Southeast of 30 or 40,000 of them, and if they don't surrender in the next 24 hours, I suspect Russia will ultimately annihilate them."

(…)

"The war is really over for the Ukrainians. They have been grounded to bits. There's no question about that despite what we report on our mainstream media. So the real question for us at this stage is, if there is an agreement, Tucker, are we going to live with the Russian people and their government? Or are we going to continue to pursue this sort of regime change dressed up as Ukrainian war?"

There’s being slightly offin a prediction, there’s being wrong in a prediction and then there is being a clown.

Macgregor is that clown

Macgregor is matched and exceeded by the clowns in the MSM who told us stories of Ukrainian grandmothers defeating tanks with broomsticks and Russians having nothing but shovels left with which to fight.

And I’m sorry to say Cronos - you are guilty of promoting same. Especially with the “Putin is literally Hitler!!” nonsense of team neocon

Most people only want truth. Please look within yourself before you post.

At least he was a great tank commander in the 1991 Gulf War.

He’s not a clown and he’s not alone in that early opinion because people were looking at the Ukrainian army and comparing it with the Russian army and knew the Ukraine would lose.
What they didn’t know was that this was NATO’s war. Everyone at the command level was NATO and the Ukrainians were just proxies. So the time estimates and hardware estimates had to add the combined resources of NATO, including command and control and hardware, to the actual estimate.

Since then, MacGregor and others have been very reliable - once people knew this was NATO vs Russia the estimates got better. For example, NATO can only field about 1/8 the ammunition Russia can. Numbers - they favor Russia overwhelmingly.

MacGregor points out that the Ukraine and others all tout the donations of tanks, but that the Ukraine doesn’t have sufficient air cover and the tanks will be destroyed. MacGregor and others know that the Ukraine lost the capacity to win some time ago. Even the Ukrainian head of military forces said months ago in an article in the Economist that he knew what he needed to win, and that NATO didn’t have it to give to him. This is what MacGregor and others have been saying.

So you can keep going back to last year when the public wasn’t aware this was a NATO war using Ukrainians as cannon fodder, but the Ukraine is still losing this war, and most of the men in the Ukraine.

I thought the propaganda around Covid was bad. But this Ukraine mess has that beat by a mile. This is not a knock against Macgregor specifically. It’s a knock against all of them, on both sides.

Lies and smokescreens rule the day.

Yeah MacGregor is a stooge. Bakmut whether it stands or falls is immaterial to the ward outcome. The Russians are out of gas, out of tanks, almost out of artillery, and definitely out of trained manpower. Equipment is pouring into Ukraine now and once this new stuff hits the front lines and the ground hardens the war enters a totally new phase. Russia has not got the economic base to sustain the current level of fighting and the gains now are measured in meters not miles. They will be rolled up and crushed.

The Ukrainians have been very quick studies, plus they are VERY motivated. It’s pretty clear that they were underestimated by everyone.

MacGregor and others say the Ukrainians (trained ones) have nothing to be ashamed of as they are fierce fighters. But they have been squandered and under resourced and the majority of the best have been killed.

Only Hitler could be “literally” Hitler.

Pooptin is a failure without an original idea in his head who tried to use Hitler’s playbook with the same balderdash about Czechoslovakia being an illegitimate country that was oppressing poor German speakers. And that he just wanted Czechoslovakia demilitarized as it was a threat to world peace.

The difference is that Pooptin didn’t get away with it

He is a clown who has failed in his putinist propaganda time and time again. Mirroring Russian failures in the field.

You aren't going to find truth from Wesley Clark's associates. They are political creatures, first and foremost feathering their own nests...
Another guy who has a connection to Wesley Clark is retired Col. Macgregor, the guy Trump nominated for Ambassador to Germany but whose nomination failed. Frequently cited here on FR by those who think Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is justified. 81 posted on 8/7/2022, 3:10:51 AM by piasa

I have an ominous insight. The fact that China is cozying up to the (potential) winner is telling. Maybe giving the nudge to put Putin over the top. I hate it that we spent so much treasure in this affair, yet another war we weren’t willing to win outright.

——-
Demographics show the pre war population of Ukraine was 40 million, today, 22-26 million. Their 18-60 male population has been decimated, millions have fled, died, etc…

If the US population of 330 million was reduced to Ukrainian numbers, the US would have 200 million some citizens left- think about the situation Ukraine is in…..and yet the collective West MSM will have you believe they are winning…

He’s a retired Colonel, not an “ex Colonel” as this horrible writer states. I agree with the Colonel this has been effectively over for some time, were it not for those (Biden) who want to keep it going at all costs.

- when East and West Germany reunited (with resultant NATO expansion), the U.S. made a deal with Gorbachev, that if the USSR did not push back on German reunification, then NATO would not expand into Czechoslovakia, Hungary and Poland.

- along comes Bill Clinton, who pushes NATO expansion into Czechoslovakia, Hungary and Poland and the Bear is further provoked.

- Obama stages coup in Ukraine 2014, which removed a duly elected president.

- Ukrainian army proceeds to murder over 14,000 ethnic Russians in the eastern Donbass region.

- surprise surprise Biden presses NATO expansion into Ukraine with further provocations by Sweden and Finland joining NATO, which is currently under way.

- Biden destroys the Nordstream 2 pipeline and blames it on Russia. The first time the U.S. has attacked the major infrastructure of an ally (Germany). A further major provocation.

- just imagine if the Chinese CCP conducted similar actions along the Canadian and Mexican borders. Would we accept Chinese military bases with nukes along our borders? This is what Putin was forced to deal with when Biden threatened NATO expansion into Ukraine and other countries.

- Russia, China, and a number of other major nations refuse to participate in the western (U.S. led) globalism movement. Putin is standing in the way. Is the U.S. on the right side of this war? Depends on the color of your sunglasses.
