April checks coming early for Supplemental Security Income recipients, here’s why

(WJW) — Some Social Security recipients can expect a second payment before the end of the week.

Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients have received two benefit disbursements so far this month: the first SSI disbursement on March 1 and the regular Social Security payment on the second, third or fourth Wednesday, depending on their birth date.

There’s typically only one SSI payment each month, paid out on the first of the month. But if that day falls on a weekend or holiday, it arrives on the last business day before the end of the month. This year, April 1 is a Saturday.

This also means there won’t be an SSI payment in April.

Eligible SSI recipients include adults age 65 and older who have limited income or resources, and also adults and children with a disability or blindness.

Poor old folks will be confused. My SS payment shows up in my online bank statement on hold for the 3rd, just like every month. (Come to think of it, I checked my account yesterday, and the hold was already there. That seems really early.)

THIS really is confusing. So, are they saying April’s SS check is actually coming in March? I have read this article twice and still can’t figure out what they are saying. I am guessing, I am not the only one either?

If you got two checks in March, then you receive SSI. You won’t get an SSI check in April. If you received one check in March, you receive ordinary SS. You will get a check in April.

First of the month-—April—falls on a SATURDAY.

Payments always come ‘early’ when first day of month is Sat or Sun-—Disbursed on FRIDAY.

THIS ISN’T NEW-—it isn’t rocket science

Any benefit payment you normally receive on the 1st of the month (April) will be deposited on the 31st of March. April 1st falls on Saturday. This has always been the case. If your payment is scheduled for the 3rd of the month that will still be deposited on Monday the 3rd of April.

SSI is such a joke. You can get SSI for a gambling addiction. I’m not joking.

Why did they put it in such confusing language? Why didn’t they just say SSI recipients will receive their April payment early, on March 29th, because the 1st of April is on a Sunday?

Sheesh.... You’d think they were being paid by the word!

Thank you! That clears things up without being confusing. How simple that would have been if they just said that, huh?

So SSI is in addition to regular social security? How do I get qualified as a gambling addict? The market has been so crappy lately that I would like to qualify.

My bank and Social Security have a great arrangement. My social security pay date is the 3rd Wednesday of the month. My bank credits my account with the Soc Sec deposit on the Friday before the 3rd Wednesday (and even occassionally, rarely, on the Thursday before the 3rd Wednesday). That is how my virtual (no bricks and mortar) bank does it. My other bank, a regular bricks-and-mortar bank, does not do it that way; holding onto the deposit in their accounts until the formal pay date of the 3rd Wednesday.

I’ve gotten my S.S. check and my private pension check that way for 24 years, it’s not something new and try as I may, I cannot figure out how anyone but a democrat might find it confusing in the least.
