A new report ranks all 50 states from best to worst for economic conditions, showing which states have improved, and worsened, in creating an economic climate where businesses want to invest.
The American Legislative Exchange Council released the state analysis, which ranks Utah as the number one state, North Carolina as second, and Arizona as third. Idaho and Oklahoma fill out the top five spots, ranking fourth and fifth, respectively.
“The proof is in the pudding,” Jonathan Williams, ALEC’s chief economist who co-authored the report, told The Center Square. “Utah was the fastest growing state in the country by population, over 18% population growth in the last decade. So one of the key themes that we see not just in Utah but in so many of the top ten or the top half of states is that states that get it right with policy are getting it right with migration as people continue to vote with their feet. Taxpayers are continuing to vote with their feet against high-tax states and going toward states that offer more economic opportunity and really a better quality of life and a lower cost of life.”
“We’ve been doing this long enough that there are really no accidents and no flukes,” he added.

This is a much more believable list based on OBJECTIVE criteria, not just “livability” and other subjective garbage.
It’s all about ideology. The theory is that Communism ushers in a workers’ paradise where everyone is happy and everything is equal. It’s such a lovely idea that a lot of people rush toward it, no matter what.
Of course, in practice, we see that Communists (Collectivists, if you like a general term) killed 100 million people in the 20th century, and the US cities that they run are overwhelmed by crime, and the states that they run have poorly performing economies.
But ignore the evidence of the real world outcomes. Keep rushing toward the lovely idea of the workers’ paradise.
How is the leftist news media supposed to take these results seriously when they failed to include important metrics like diversity and equity in the calculations?
And here is the top ten. What are the odds that Arizona falls out of the top ten by this time next year. I would bet leftover Bush Light against used bananna peels we do.
Utah
North Carolina
Arizona
Idaho
Oklahoma
Wyoming
Indiana
North Dakota
Florida
Nevada
The top ten states are:
Utah
North Carolina
Arizona
Idaho
Oklahoma
Wyoming
Indiana
North Dakota
Florida
Nevada
Yes. I noticed that diversity and equity were not included in the metrics at all.
And notice, “For the most part, Republican-led states filled the better parts of the rankings while Democrat-led states fell to the bottom. The top ten states are almost entirely Republican-led, and the bottom ten states are all Democrat-led.”

Choose Wisely.
It would be interesting to overlay this list with the “red-state/blue-state” map.
Unfortunately, Red States have centers of blue. Usually the capital and metro areas where leftists from CA and east coast have invaded. And the blue centers drag the rest of the state down with them.
It’s sad that Kansas is #30. Who would have thunk?!!
No, really? Well, Bust my Buttons!
I hope this list doesn’t cause an influx of folks to Oklahoma.
I like the fact most people don’t want to live here.
GOP in best shape. That’s why all this liberal/libertarian filth is flooding into the heartland. Loathsome mongrels, every one.

So true. In Georgia, we have Atlanta. If you look at the Atlanta area news sites each day, you will see the stories of gas station and night club robberies and murders. There is also plenty of those at the Section 8 housing complexes. If you have to travel to Georgia, avoid Atlanta if at all possible. If driving, make sure to fill up your tank at a rural station outside of the metro city area.
Do not listen to Google maps as to directions to any conference location or event arena. Research the safest route even it it is a mile or two different from the shortest route. Google will send you through the worst parts of town directly into the arms of the thugs and gangs. Although they were supposed to add “safest route” options to their maps a couple years ago, I don’t know if they have done so yet.
I'm sure somebody complained that it would be racist, or something.
Besides people "voting with their feet" for the right "policy" decisions, how about moving for religious reasons?
I suspect another factor the weighs into Utah being number one is its high Mormon faith population. My brother is Mormon and he has many grandchildren, most of them living in the Salt Lake City area. I'd also add in the low crime rate in Utah may be another factor.
Indeed 5 of the top 10 states highlighted in the study -- Utah, Idaho, Wyoming, Arizona, and Nevada -- are the most popular states for Mormons to live.
The chart below is from this article: Where Do the Largest Percentages of Latter-day Saints Live?
Most likely the blue areas will not allow you to defend yourself... re: CCW. So the best bet is to know where they are and stay away from them. When America collapses they will be the first to go.
Oh, and the cities are a huge tax revenue suck. Gotta pay for the free socialist programs somehow.
