Splash Mountain at Disneyland in Anaheim, California will close May 31st, park officials announced earlier this week.
The move comes amid accusations in recent years that the ride contains racially insensitive undertones. Its current theme, “Song of The South,” originates from Disney’s 1946 film featuring “Br’er Rabbit” and his adventures in the South.
The film, set on a plantation, features an elderly black man known as “Uncle Remus” who tells traditional African-American folktales to white children cared for by Black servants.
Disney Imagineers will begin re-theming the ride into its new layout based on Disney’s 2009 film, “The Princess and The Frog,” featuring Princess Tiana’s Bayou Adventure opening at both Disneyland Park and Magic Kingdom Park in Walt Disney World Resort in 2024.
The ride will build on Tiana’s film storyline in which the character enacts her lifelong wish to create a restaurant, “Princess Tiana’s Palace.”
Aside from the new theme overlay, the ride will retain its original waterfall layout which was first unveiled in the late 1980s.
So glad we raised our kid at a time when Disneyland was still a fun place for the family. At least 15 years ago. Our kid has collected all of our Disney memorabilia, videos, movies, and books for their kids before Disney’s history is completely obliterated for the woke brigade.
They’re getting rid of it because they believe it is racist...so having racism around has been okay for a bit longer and they will “phase out” the racism...
Sadness. I love Br’er Bear and Br’er fox and Uncle Remus.
I love “Song of the South”. As a little kid, I loved Uncle Remus shining with that big smile next to the fireplace.
The self-righteous Social Justice Warriors (SJW) just want everyone to be a miserable as they are.
You can download Song of the South at the Internet Archive. or at least you could a couple of months ago.
I watched it, and really didn’t see anything racist. I suspect the black people praying for the white kid is the real objection.
I wonder how many customers complained and out of that many how many where black?
Uncle Remus was a super nice guy and that’s the problem. He wasn’t a thug from da hood with a rap sheet a mile long of pushing illegal drugs to school kids and a tear drop tat by his eye indicating, well, you know.
Disneyland is pretty much dead..used to be such a nice place to visit, now its full of woke BS..Walt Disney is turning over in his grave

First hand experience.
It's absolutely shocked me how little I care for Star Wars now. Not just how Disney has bungled some things with it directly, it's Disney being hellbent on shoving wokery down our throats and not giving a damn about insulting their core audience.
I will forever have my Star Wars collection of stuff pre-Disney. But I'm not going to be getting Disney+ just to watch The Mandalorian. The thrill is gone. Disney killed it. And I suspect it's done that to a lot of people.
No more “Laffy Place”
The Uncle Remus stories are based on genuine American literature written/collected in the last half of the 19 century.
Princess Tiana, Uncle Remus’s replacement is based on...Disney’s writing/animation department. The ‘really important thing’ is she’s Disney’s ‘first African-American princess, although I was unaware that there are any black or white princesses in American history.
So Disney took something based on genuine American folk tales and replaced it with made up B.S.
Yep...I was also a huge Star Wars nerd.
When Episode 8 came out all the magic was gone. No regard to established canon, storyline, etc. and all of the woke garbage to boot.
By all means, close it all down.
Disney burbank, anaheim and orlando, can all go broke for all i care.. they have ruined everything.
IMO-—The best pic taken at Splash Mountain was Princess Di with the 2 boys.

I could ask what’s racist about Splash Mountain, but I really couldn’t care less. Just seeing the word “racist” makes my eyes glaze over.
