According to Nolo.com, in order for someone to commit an act of criminal trespass, the individual must be on your property without permission and must also be aware of this fact. For example, if someone accidentally wanders onto your property while hiking along a nearby trail, you may not be legally justified if you point your gun at the person.

The article said he would not come out of his house for an hour or so once police arrived.
I wonder if the homeowner may have realized what a horrific mistake he made and was coming to grips with it when the police arrived.

The Dunkin Donuts was extra crowded this morning so I ordered through the app. Amazingly, they made my coffee next so I was able to walk past the entire line and grab my coffee out of the “mobile to go” tray, and I was on my way.
People roll through my driveway every now and again. Usually it is real estate people who “heard it was for sale” because the “owner is in a nursing home”. That owner died a year ago and we bought the house from the family. In reality, they are just trolling for houses to sell.
...and he KNEW this how? Perhaps a home invasion in the making? K-turn in the street next time...some people are real touchy about trespassers...she found out the hard way. (No...before the PCFR types have a fit, I did NOT say she got what she deserved.)

The media highlights horrible cases like this to soften the field for the eventual confiscation of all guns, which is the long-term goal of the Woke left.
BTW - This homeowner should pay a price for being an idiot and shooting this girl. However, I doubt anyone will be protesting outside his house.
