The withholding tables now better reflect actual income so overpayments are lower.
Refunds are overpayment of tax liability.

They do suck. Payroll programmers can’t figure it out. The simple S, M and HofH with # of dependents worked well for decades.

we got less....we couldn't claim our charitable donations...we don't have young children at home....what a money windfall for those that do.....our medical expenses are pretty much covered but there not big anyway....
we got one stimulus but no others...we didn't qualify for covid credits...
in short, we don't know how to cheat...
