In March of 1861 the House of Representatives voted by a 3/4ths majority to pass the Corwin Amendment which would make slavery permanent in the United States.
The Senate followed up by voting by a 3/4ths majority to pass this same Corwin Amendment guaranteeing a right to own slaves.
Both houses were controlled by the Republicans because the original 7 Confederate states had already left the congress before this time.
The primary proponent of the Corwin Amendment in the Senate was William Seward, Former governor of New York and then Lincoln's secretary of State.
With the entire government urging the states to pass the permanent slavery amendment, nobody fought the war for the purpose of freeing the slaves.
They fought the war to put the chains of Washington DC around the necks of people who wanted to be free of it's control and corruption.
We are still dealing with DC corruption today, and it is bigger than it ever was.
It is the Whites that are the dumbies. They are the ones paying the Blacks. They are just putting guilt trips on Self Hating Whites.
