New York moves to become first state banning natural gas hookups
Foxnews ^ | 04/28/2023 | Thomas Catenacci | Fox News

New York state leaders led by Democratic Gov. Kathy Hochul reached an agreement late Thursday on the state's 2024 budget which includes a future ban on natural gas hookups in new building construction.

Under the budget deal, natural gas hookups will be banned in small buildings beginning in 2025 and large buildings beginning in 2028, according to Hochul. The governor said in remarks that the budget insulates households from "exorbitant energy bills" while helping the state build a "more sustainable future."

"Everyone knows we've seen the effects of climate change — the storms, the hurricanes coming to New York, record snow amounts. We're seeing the effects every single day. Not just here, but across the nation," Hochul told reporters. "Our budget prioritizes nation-leading climate action that meets this moment with ambition and the commitment it demands."

Let me help you understand this press release. If you believe global warming causes “record snow amounts” ... you might be a Democrat. LOL

Time to bring back coal fired furnaces. My paternal grandparents had one. Kind of messy, but you backed a truck toward a small door in the basement and covered it with a tarp.

Open a little cat sized door to refill an indoor coal bin and shovel it into the furnace.

A lot of older buildings in this part of the country still have them, but mostly hook up to natural gas now.

Much cleaner and lower maintenance, but the "progressives" are really regressives.

The issue is never the issue. (typed in my best Rush voice)

I'm so old I remember Dims telling us to shut down coal plants and replace them with natural gas ones because it's "clean burning". That was only a few years ago in the Obama days. Now all of sudden the natural gas that was supposed to save us all is what the Dims are saying is killing us all.

In new york, about 11 years ago or so in late October we were hit with a hurricane. Electricity was knocked out for a big chunk of the county i live in.

In my neighborhood, we were without electricity for a whole week. But we had a gas stove. We were still able to cook food and heat our house because of that.
