The last of four former Minneapolis police officers facing state charges in the death of George Floyd has been convicted of aiding and abetting manslaughter.

Tou Thao was convicted for his role in the murder of Floyd, who died on May 25, 2020, when former police officer Derek Chauvin kneeled on his neck for more than nine minutes despite his fading cries of “I can’t breathe.”

Floyd’s killing led to worldwide protests, and his last words became a rallying cry in the call for police reform.

Chauvin was convicted of murder and manslaughter in April 2021 and later pleaded guilty in a federal case. He is now serving a state sentence of 22-and-a-half years in prison and a federal sentence of 21 years concurrently.

Tragic. He has had so much time to leave the country and get asylum somewhere. Should have got while the getting was good.

Cops don’t have a UCMJ but they should, so they don’t allow stupid on the part of other cops. You are supposed to watch each others back, but not cover up for them if they are out of control.

And how does that have a d@mn thing to do with George Floyd who died from an overdose of Fentanyl while unfortunate cops had to be there and get blamed for it?

I don't believe any of those cops did anything wrong, including Derick Chauvin. The legal system simply treated them like Jews in a Nazi court.

The Judge and Jurors need to go to prison.

Conduct unbecoming isn’t manslaughter. Following orders and not participating can never equal manslaughter. Ever.

Something about the UCMJ, judge and jury are subject to the same rules! And they know it.
Civilian juries and judges can generally do as they darn well please OJ got off scott free for example.

Only one of those cops was responsible and he should have been fired. A$$holes like him don’t have the temperament to deal with a$$holes like Floyd who needed medical assistance not “attitude adjustment”.
I’m not a defund police guy on the contrary they don’t get paid enough, but they need much more training before we give them such power.
And doing speeding tickets and enforcing stupid tax laws is not the main job of armed police. Those are civil problems.
Cops should deal with criminal problems.

Floyd was a walking deadman when they met him. As for how they treated him, he tried to kick his way out of the back of a police car so they dragged him out and put him on the ground.

I don't see anything wrong with the way they treated him.

I like your avatar name, one of my favorite Philosophers
Having been a police science student, spent a few nights riding along with police, and have spent time in New Orleans Parish prison.
I’ve never been convicted of anything.
I know about cops.
Most are shit!
They have guns, prosecutorial immunity, and think they are top dogs over us.
I’m pretty law abiding but I don’t need a cop for protection
I just need a gun.

What you say is true for far too many of them. I too have had a long association with cops on a level most people don't, and I have seen plenty of arrogant out of control bad ones.

But Floyd did try to kick the doors open on the police car, and their regular policy is to pull them out and put them down on the ground. The cop did everything in exactly the manner he was trained to do it.

And since he did not kill George Floyd, He should not be put in prison for "killing" George Floyd.
