DENVER — It was the 554th Friday since his son, Alex, was one of 12 people shot to death in a movie theater 11 miles from here, and state Sen. Tom Sullivan (D) stood in the well of the Colorado Senate, calling again for stricter gun laws.
The gallery above was filled with grieving Denver high-schoolers whose classmate had recently been fatally shot. The halls outside were swarming with volunteers in red Moms Demand Action T-shirts, one of whom stopped Sullivan as he exited the chamber to ask: Would he support a state assault weapons ban?
Federal, absolutely, he responded. State? No: It would inflame gun-rights supporters, was unlikely to be enforced and would not curb the vast majority of shootings.

With their biggest majority in 60 years, Colorado Democrats returned to the Capitol in January vowing to take on gun violence in a state scarred by mass killings — Columbine, the Aurora theater, the Boulder supermarket, Club Q. On April 28, activists and lawmakers celebrated as Gov. Jared Polis (D) signed four gun-control bills some hailed as the most significant ever.

Sen. Sullivan’s son was shot in the one movie theater in Aurora that was labeled a “gun free zone”. The killer passed up two other movie theaters that were showing the same movie at the same time and were geographically closer to his residence..Things that make you go hmmm...
My daughter moved to Denver 7 years ago. I visit once or twice a year. The deterioration has been dramatic.

The following is John Lott’s observations on the Aurora movie theater shooting:
“Instead, out of all the movie theaters within 20 minutes of his apartment showing the new Batman movie that night, it was the only one where guns were banned. In Colorado, individuals with permits can carry concealed handgun in most malls, stores, movie theaters, and restaurants. But private businesses can determine whether permit holders can carry guns on their private property.
Most movie theaters allow permit holders carrying guns. But the Cinemark movie theater was the only one with a sign posted at the theater’s entrance.
A simple web search and some telephone calls reveal how easily one can find out how Cinemark compared to other movie theaters. According to mapquest.com and movies.com, there were seven movie theaters showing “The Dark Knight Rises” on July 20th within 20 minutes of the killer’s apartment at 1690 Paris St, Aurora, Colorado. At 4 miles and an 8-minute car ride, the Cinemark’s Century Theater wasn’t the closest. Another theater was only 1.2 miles (3 minutes) away.
There was also a theater just slightly further away, 10 minutes. It is the “home of Colorado’s largest auditorium,” according to their movie hotline greeting message. The potentially huge audience ought to have been attractive to someone trying to kill as many people as possible. Four other theaters were 18 minutes, two at 19 minutes, and 20 minutes away. But all of those theaters allowed permitted concealed handguns.”
Colorado never had all these “mass shootings” until Californians moved in and took over the state.
And California was ravaged by New Yorkers ...

How about calling for stricter laws for people that engaged in violent acts? I’ll bet if prison sentences for violent crimes involved a minimum of 10 years of hard labor instead of the country club atmosphere of today’s prisons or the death sentence for capital murder crimes the crime rate would soon drop.

Note the vagueness.
Do they mean an assault weapons sales ban or an assault weapons possession ban?
The second is what they are aiming for.
Imagine if they enacted such a ban.
Would millions turn over their key defense against ever increasing tyranny? No.
And if the leftists or their law enforcement lackeys start seizing weapons a civil war would break out - a very nasty civil war.
There would be mass movements of people as in 1948 with the India/Pakistan breakup. Limousine liberal whites would have to flee their mainly white wealthy enclaves. Suburban blacks and Hispanics would have to carry proof of recent gainful employment and be able to speak English, or flee to urban leftist strongholds.
The 30,000 or so members of the Taliban showed that it is possible to defeat the US military and its collaborators.
The successful techniques of the Taliban are known to many Americans.
Law enforcement people will scatter just as they did in Afghanistan and in New Orleans during Katrina.
NO GUN SIGNS on private businesses in commierado are legally just suggestions. Most CHP holders ignore them. One can also cccw in bars and restaurants here and at polling places, if not in a public school of federali building.
Funny there are NO GUN signs on light rail to go downtown. Going downtown (Denver) is a reason to ccw.
And to think, fifty years ago the most popular bumper sticker was...
“DON’T CALIFORNICATE COLORADO!”
Well, it has been. Now they are moving in on New Mexico.

If a civil war starts in the USA, the US stock market will go belly up in short order.

Or “law enforcement” will hide like they did at the Uvalde school shooting.
Because it is so likely to lead to civil war, continued talk of gun grabbing may cause US urban and close-in suburban real estate sales to seize up.
