I’m former military and my father was a veteran and Law Enforcement Officer, we both knew that they’re a jerks in both professions.
I really don’t care what this guy says. His opinion doesn’t carry any weight with me, especially if he doesn’t know what an automatic weapon is. Why should law abiding citizens give up their gun because some nut kills people? The nuts are going to kill people regardless of what law abiding people do.
For all practical purposes they’re illegal for the average Dilbert. There’s a long list of requirements that must be done. And, any auto manufactured after 1986. So, that leaves an ever diminishing number of autos in circulation. Even if you have found a legally owned auto you can’t take possession until approved. Then, you may have to come up with $20k or more to purchase it. Most are owned by serious collectors and such.

The problem with people like him, is that the color of authority (gun lover, former police, army) is being used to justify a ban on firearms to those in the general public that aren't gun people, and don't know the difference.
And because non gun people hear stuff like this, especially after such a visible incident, they get motivated to call and pressure their elected officials to take action.
Which usually results in some incremental form of gun control, in this case, against ar15s, whether they are full auto or not.

Machine guns require a $200 NFA tax stamp and an extensive background check that takes weeks/months. They also require a large number of $$$$$ (legal M16s with legal paperwork about $25,000-$50,000+), since the supply is limited, because the Firearm Owners' Protection Act (FOPA) of 1986 banned the sale of new automatic weapons to civilians. (It was signed into law by Ronald Reagan, showing that even the best of men can make mistakes.)
People who can afford to spend $25-$50K on a gun and undergo an extensive background check usually aren't the kind of people who commit mass murder.
I think I read that the only legally owned machine gun that has ever been proven to have been used in a crime was used by a cop who was moonlighting as a hit man.

Of course, but not one person who has been through weapons training would mislabel a Semiauto as an auto. Just like they would never mislabel a single action as a double action. Or call a round or cartridge a “bullet”.

Sounds ignorant to me. One of life’s rules is to not make any decisions based on emotion. Just wait, think and consider, then make a decision. That’s what adults are supposed to do, right?

The same goes for incidents in which police disarm a suspect. Even though at that point they’ve taken possession of what liberals assure us is the sole and direct cause of violent attacks, weirdly the cops still put handcuffs on the suspect and take him to jail. Why?
I love presenting anti-gun liberals with a thought experiment: In which of these situations would you be in more danger: A) You’re locked in a room stacked to the ceiling with AR-15s and ammunition, but populated with nuns, or B) You’re locked in a room with no weapons of any kind, but populated with MS-13 gang members? Everyone knows the answer.
