I just don't understand how he gets away with this. The borrowers entered into a contract with the tax-payers. Biden officials shouldn't be able to forgive that debt. Nor should have previous presidents.

In this case, it is a lawful program that includes a minimum of “public service” employment with promised forgiveness (not a new program). BUT - he changed the internal rules of the existing program to loosen up requirements.

It’s not “forgiveness.” No sin has been committed. It’s a handout from the government (taxpayers) to people whose votes biden wants to get.
He has no right to do that, and so it’s illegal.

Loan forgiveness for PUBLIC servants!

It’s not like they don’t have jobs to pay back the loan. Public servant means government job. This means you will never be fired or laid off. Just another reparations program. /spit

This is a result of the temporary [Public Service Loan Forgiveness] changes made by the Biden-Harris Administration that made it easier for borrowers to reach forgiveness,” the department also said. Under the Trump administration, 7,000 borrowers were approved for the forgiveness program.

The program allows public employees such as teachers and members of law enforcement as well as non-profit workers to pay their student loans for 10 years before being eligible to have the remaining balance forgiven.

Apparently the president has some legal authority regarding this “public service loan forgiveness” policy.

And this is completely separate from the legal cases over the massive loan forgiveness the administration wants to give people.

Don’t see him giving away any of his. How unfair is it for a person who didn’t go to college pay for someone who did?

I put this is the same bucket as the mortgage plan — charge extra to those people with good credit, so that the people with bad credit can get a sweetheart deal.

A college graduate worked and avoided loans? Or managed to pay off their loans? Screw them. They get nothing. But the people who have racked up the big debts? Have we got a sweetheart deal for them!

It’s a government of the government, for the government, and by the government. They want your money and not your opinion.

We are being ruled by the federal government now that they have paid off every state and local public agency. What a horror when I look at my tax bill.

Heck, it’s all about the Deep State...which term means the well distributed administrative state, also meaning that a lot of “peons” have a financial stake in it (their paychecks).

So giving them a few perks at the expense of everybody else to keep them happy is no problem, right?

Pretty sure a forgiven loan amount is considered taxable income so there’s that at least.

Didn’t a Fed judge put the kibosh on this?

Another late and low blow from the liberals.
