Regular readers and listeners should remember the assessment of the situation that I laid out (and expressed) last winter. One of the theses was: "If the necessary national measures for the successful conduct of the war are not taken before May, we will not be able to win this war.
I state: NO MEASURES HAVE BEEN TAKEN. Neither organizational nor personnel. The goals of the war have not been determined, and the inhabitants of the Planet of the Pink Ponies(PRP) have not understood that "this war will be fought until one side is victorious. Accordingly, since there is no goal, there is no strategy. No strategy - no conscious work on its implementation. But the enemy has a strategy from the beginning and is being implemented with all its might. More and more successfully since the Kremlin is "playing giveaway" with an inexplicable enthusiasm and childlike confidence in the ultimate "contract" that is comfortable for the elderly Ponies, Elephants, and Unicorns.
Now we have to think about how to preserve the state, the country and the people in a situation of impending military defeat.
And, yes - even for a "worthy non-fatal defeat" (in which our enemies will be forced to abandon their plans for the complete fragmentation of Russia and the elimination of its sovereignty) we will have to fight long and hard. Harder and longer than it would have been if we had fought to win decisively from the outset. And the longer the occupants of the PRP will linger in the "sweet languor" of confidence in their peaceful and happy old age (which has long come for most of the VIPs) - the less chance that in the end the Russian ship will manage to get out of the military storm and systemic crisis, without sinking (after a long and bloody Troubles) into History.

This Russian describes U.S. President (Commander-in-Chief) policy shortcomings since WW2.
#1 goal in Europe: Prevent fracturing of Europe / return to pre-WW1 (or 2) setup (plus nukes, this go-round). Has been largely successful.
#2 goal in Europe : Contain Russia. Has been mostly successful.
SOME MISCELLANEOUS BUT SALIENT OBSERVATIONS ABOUT THE WAR IN UKRAINE
At the start of the “Special Military Operation” more than a year ago, the Ukrainian Army outnumbered the Russians by a factor of three. Even with their advantage in numbers, the Ukrainian defenses failed to stop the numerically inferior Russian force and failed to expel the Russians from the Luhansk and Donetsk territories.
We now are being enticed to believe that Ukraine, with a numerically inferior force compared to Russia’s current troop deployment, is going to mount an offensive, despite a severe lack of tanks, armored vehicles, mobile artillery and air cover, that will drive the Russians from fortifications erected during the last six months.
Ukrainian officials persist in making wild claims about Russian defeats, low morale and catastrophic casualties. There is a very simple test you can do to evaluate the Ukrainian claim about Russia’s losses — find the social media and count the photos and videos. If Russia had suffered the number of killed and wounded cited by Ukrainian and Western officials and pundits, then it would be impossible to hide those photos and videos. Social media and smart phones are ubiquitous and grieving wives, girl friends, parents and friends are not easy to corral.
Images and videos like the following are widely available on Ukrainian Telegram channels. The opposite is true when it comes to finding comparable material on Russian channels. There are a few photos of newly dug graves in a Russian military cemetery, but nothing like the quantity of images recording Ukraine losses.
This is rather false. Ukraine did not finish its mobilization until about the Summer, which of course led to the humiliation of Russia in Kherson and Kharkiv, and will result in another humiliation of Russia in the coming days.
Thanks mostly to Ukraine and the UK. Biden was almost as bad as the Germans (well okay, nowhere near as bad, and yet we could have done much better) in slow walking weapons. We were asked a long time ago for anti-missile defenses, which only arrived recently. If not for the pressure of Ukraine’s masterful President (he knew how to force even sissy countries in the EU to live up to their own values, when ordinarily they would have surrendered) and the UK, I wonder if Biden would have just looked the other way.
