EPA set to impose new rules on power plants in effort to reduce carbon pollution
AP through Breitbart ^ | 5/11/2023 | UPI

The Environmental Protection Agency is set to impose increased carbon pollution standards that would slap new restrictions on coal and natural-gas power plants as the administration ramps up efforts to address climate change.

Under the new rules, power plants would be required to strengthen current performance standards for newly built gas-powered combustion turbines. The plan also calls for establishing emission guidelines for states to follow in limiting carbon pollution from coal, oil and natural gas-fired plants.

There would also be new emission guidelines for existing combustion turbines fired by natural gas.

They mean carbon dioxide, not carbon. And carbon dioxide is NOT a pollutant, it is necessary for life on earth.

If the government cared about carbon pollution as they say the government would already have all electric vehicles and other modes of transportation but they don’t.

Translation: BS power grab for total control of your life.

Now they are coming for how and what your going to cook to reduce emissions.

Now you know why I installed a bunch of solar, converted my two natural gas appliances to electric, and when it was time to replace my wife's car anyway I replaced it with an EV car.

A few of us conservatives who live in conditions favorable for solar are doing it to make our homes as energy independent as we can without curbing our lifestyles. By my wife and I doing most of our driving in the EV (but having the ICE pickup for the times an EV won't do) the home's energy independence is transferred to our local transportation being mostly energy independent too. End result: 80% of our power needs come from solar and we have to buy only the other 20%. No natural gas bill. And buying only a little gas at the pump (for what little we buy the ICE pickup).

It won't work for everyone. It requires a lot of homework to see if your area and your energy consumption habits and driving habits are conducive for solar and/or an EV. And if so, some things have to be timed to be financially beneficial (i.e. if buying an EV wait until you're having to replace your old ICE car anyway, or before installing solar panels, if on the roof, then don't do it only a few years before you have to replace your old shingle roof, etc.). And even then do some more homework to make sure you're not cheated by the installers, and when installed be sure to tweak the configuration to best support your energy consumption habits with the least amount of pull from the grid. And if you pay for it with a HELOC loan like I did, you need to wait until the Fed lowers interest rates again like they were 2 years ago.

But if you works for you, it's a sweet feeling to not have to worry about the Dims' stupid energy policies destroying your retirement financial planning.

Isn’t the Chevron case before the Supreme Court meant to take some of the wind out of these alphabet agencies sails?

Yes. I'm hoping the good guys win. I wouldn't be surprised, however, if Roberts says regulations like these are a "tax".

When did the EPA get the right to set environmental policy without political oversight? I thought we paid Congress to do that?
