Funny an hour or so ago I texted a friend about the government’s inflation numbers.

Topic was food.

In 2000 one could buy a bar-b-que salad and a fountain drink for $5.00.

According to the government it should now cost $8.91.

The real price now is more like $16-$18.

The government numbers are roughly 50%+ too low.

Exactly-up until the election of 0--you could get a decent lunch for $5-6.

We went out to Portillos the other night. (chicago hot dog place).

4 hot dogs (normal size) with some pickles, relish, mustard, peppers, 3 fries (with about 25 crinkle cut fries) and 3 sodas-$46. Not kidding.

I almost fainted. Won't be doing that again.

It used to be PX/Commissary prices were on parity with Wal-Mart but in lesser variety and quality. Now, what costs $200 at WM costs $120 at the Commissary
