Former President Trump says “even” former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) handled the coronavirus pandemic better than Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R), his latest attack the day after DeSantis officially joined the 2024 GOP presidential primary.
Trump said in a video from his campaign on Thursday that Florida had among the highest number of deaths from COVID-19 in the country and shut down numerous public locations at the onset of the pandemic, including beaches. “How about the fact that he had the third-most deaths of any state… Even Cuomo did better. He was No. 4,” Trump said.
Data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention showed that Florida had the third-highest number of COVID-19-related deaths in 2021, while New York had the fourth-most. But the data also shows Florida had the 18th-highest death rate per 100,000 residents that year.

DeSantis did better than Trump...Trump let Fauci walk all over him.
If Trump did indeed say that, it is easily debunk-able.

This is the chink in Trump’s armor-attacking true conservatives who run against him. DeSantis is about the best Governor in the land. Trump is far ahead in the polls and this is so unnecessary. Attack a RINO like Kristi Kreme instead if he must.

That’s just nonsense. Cuomo was a disaster. His press conferences were absolutely ingratiating and often contradictory. His policies probably caused the deaths of many thousands of elderly people.
Both sides need to knock it off. Trump can run on his pre Covid record. DeSantis has his record in Florida. Stop the bs mudslinging. Now the rest of them have no business being in the field.

One thing about Donald Trump. Subtlety is not a core competency. He enjoys mouthing off in order to be the center of attention. Often to his benefit and sometimes to his detriment. Many people like it, some don’t. It remains to be seen if his combative style will be an asset in or a liability in the 2024 general election.
Clay and Buck were talking about this less than an hour ago.......both agree Trump is totally out to lunch saying this.......not to mention he lives in Florida.
