Who says bromance is dead?
Our ever-fickle ex-prez Donald Trump has found a new fave in an old enemy: disgraced former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, on whom he basically showered praise from his Truth Social account for his handling of New York’s COVID crisis by contrasting it favorably with that of chief GOP rival Fla. Gov. Ron DeSantis.
And Cuomo, a founding member of his own fan club, kindly reciprocated, tweeting that “Donald Trump tells the truth, finally. New York got hit first and worst but New Yorkers acted responsibly. Florida’s policy of denial allowed Covid to spread and that’s why they had a very large second wave.”
But as sweet as it is to see this bipartisan crush flowering, it’s important to remember a few key details.
On the most basic measure of COVID outcomes, age-adjusted deaths, Florida did far better than New York: Per the CDC, the Sunshine State saw 245 deaths per 100,000 residents, New York almost 312.
And DeSantis managed this without any of the terrible damage Cuomo’s clampdowns did to businesses, schools and life here in general (or the excess deaths they caused).
New Yorkers know it, too.
They left the state in droves, and Florida saw its population bloom and its economy boom.
This isn’t about the facts, of course.
Trump’s trying to hide his own record on COVID — letting Dr. Anthony Fauci & Co. push the nation into needless, endless, harmful lockdowns — from primary voters while slamming a big threat.
Cuomo’s embarked on what has got to be the most chutzpah-laden rehabilitation tour in American political history (and he has some stiff competition).

Ready for a bunch of brilliant comments that ignore the fact that Trump now favors the way Democrats handled Covid. Maybe point out that Murdoch owns the NY Post!
"Oh c'mon Trump is just being Trump" or something like would be another idiotic comment. He wants and expects people to think that Cuomo actually handled Covid better than DeSantis. Why say that otherwise? I predict some idiots actually will start saying that.

No it wouldn’t. It would be accurate. DeSantis is currently Trump’s biggest rival so Trump is attacking him. If by some crazy series of events Cuomo ended up as the Democratic candidate Trump would be saying how terrible his handling of the Covid issue was.

The vax plan was Dom Trump’s, and he still sings its hosannas to this day. Dom was such a covid tyrant that he actually criticized Kemp for opening GA too early.
Meanwhile, Florida had one of the most relaxed COVID responses of any state, no mask mandates, no vax mandates and schools stayed open. Sure glad America’s governor didn’t listen to Trump and his buddy Fauci.

It’s getting to the point that you have to be a MENSA qualifier to understand/interpret anything Trump says. People of average intellect need Trumpspeech interpreters.

I think part of the fear of not nominating Trump is that he would actually endorse Biden over DeSantis and many here would cheer or at least say he deserves it. I wish I were joking.
No real Americans left, just all this crap.
It was up to the governors how they dealt with the lockdowns etc during this Covid . That is why people are saying RDS is so great…”the way he handled the Covid crisis in the state.”
Nevertheless I know for a fact that we were a heck of a lot better off with Trump in the White House than we had been since Reagan. Even if he does mean tweets.
Trump's plan for COVID was a massive failure. And now, the next biggest COVID failure, Cuomo, earns heaps of praise from Trump.

Maybe its because everything he says has already been interpreted through the state media?
We as Americans better put our thinking caps on and get it together.

Everyone knows this.
Sometimes when I use sarcasm it is a little obscure and only some will get it. And that’s fine and intended. Many times I will play along with those that don’t. (”Oh, really? Yes, random FReeper, that’s a good point, I hadn’t thought about it that way” XD XD XD)
But when I really want to get the point across I have to go with the absurd comparison. Most get it then. But I guess media induced TDS interferes with that mechanism in some.
