Ukraine’s cross-border tactics are aimed at destabilizing Russia. Judging by the response, they’re working

Ukraine has opened a new front in its battle to drive out the Russian invader - in Russia. But it is oddly coy about admitting that it has sent troops, fired artillery, and flown drones into its neighbor’s territory.

The operations of Russian citizens, carrying Ukrainian military ID, wearing Ukrainian uniforms and attacking from Ukraine, remain officially opaque. It is Kyiv’s contribution to what’s become known as “hybrid warfare” in the “grey zone” of contemporary conflict.

The two terms provoked books and a tsunami of excited opinion from an army of pundits when Russia first invaded Ukraine in 2014.

Back then, “Little Green Men” in peculiar two-tone sport-hunting uniforms – and Russian military fatigues – appeared in Crimea.

When it was suggested that maybe, just maybe, these men were actually Russian troops, Vladimir Putin quipped “You can go to a store and buy any kind of uniform”.

Moscow’s official line was that the men who raised the Russian flag over Simferopol and stormed Crimea’s local parliament were “self defense units” of pro-Russian Ukrainians anxious to bring their territory under Moscow’s rule.

By the time Moscow admitted that its troops were actually in Ukraine, a large chunk of the former Soviet 14-year-old nation was under Putin’s control.

Now, on a small scale, Ukraine is adapting those same tactics to try to secure strategic effect.

The Russian Volunteer Corps and the Freedom for Russia Legion – which fall under Ukraine’s Defence Intelligence structure – have been conducting short cross-border raids into Russia.

The principal aim? Destabilization.

LOL, is this the great offensive we’ve been hearing about for months, terrorizing a bunch of civilians in a border town.

You may as well argue about who shot Kennedy or faked moon landings as try to have an intelligent discussion with these nuts. Or these paid intel operators. It’s one or the other.

The only civilians targeted by the military are Ethnic Russians in the Donbas Region. Been going on since 2014.

The Ukie cross border raids do effectively unite the Russian people against NATO and the West. Much out there showing the Russians increasingly calling for taking Odessa, nice video can be found of “ Take Odesa” banners popping up across Russia.

Vlad has been very, very restrained, what happens when the Russian population force him to fully take the gloves off?

The number of Russian Congressmen ( Duma) calling for a “ full mobilization “ is growing….if you thought our Lindsey Graham war mongers are disgusting, you should see what some Russian Congressmen want to do.

They also strengthen the hand of the hard-liners who want to oust Putin.

The oligarchs in Russia are in no particular hurry to wrap this thing up because it has been a highly profitable endeavor for them, and it is permanently changing the way that the world’s energy markets conduct business. The Russians raked in far more cash from their exports in 2022 as compared to 2021.

It is actually quite hilarious that we have so many here that ramble on endlessly about how bad Putin is. He is just the figurehead for the ever-increasing gaggle of billionaires that really run the show in Russia. The Ukrainian situation is largely responsible for creating 22 new billionaires in Russia. Their wealth has increased by $152 billion since the invasion began largely thanks to idiotic Western sanctions and other equally stupid foreign policy.

I think they are facing internal strains from all this. When drones were diverted from their Moscow targets this week and landed in an elite residential neighborhood, there was a lot of gloating from ordinary Russians. The bad part though is that we don’t really want Russia to disintegrate. We just want its belligerent Putin government removed.

14,000 Ethnic Russians killed by Ukie shelling of the Donbass, pre-war ( 2014- 21)….this war started in 2014….US’s pet Nazis started it, it seems clear Vlad will finish it.

Were they being “targeted” before 2014, comes with the territory when invading another country but while we are at it let’s talk about Chechnya and Georgia or Syria
Razing cities and killing civilians is the Russian number 3 past time
1 drinking
2 sending their own soldiers to slaughter

A couple of drones hit Moscow after thousands hit Ukrainian cities and you cry terrorism
I would laugh if it were not so tragic
