Greens want electric cars — but not the things required to run them
New York Post ^ | June 13, 2023 | Glenn H. Reynolds

Why is it that greens want everyone to drive electric cars but don’t want people to have electricity? Or, it seems, the cars

...

Fossil and nuclear plants are being taken offline (bye, Indian Point!) while their replacement with “renewables” like wind and solar lags and often fails to produce power when it’s most needed.

Nothing has improved on that front. But the thing about electric cars is that they don’t just need electricity, they also need batteries to store it in. And electric motors.

That’s awkward because those cars and batteries require lots of copper and other metals, plus the extraction of “rare earth” minerals that come mostly from China and Africa, where they’re often produced by child or slave labor.

We used to mine rare earths in America, but the enviros basically got that shut down. It’s easier for companies to get the stuff out of the ground in places where there aren’t sandal-wearing scolds everywhere.

...

If you endorse the spread of electric cars, you by extension endorse the extraction of the resources it takes to build and charge them.

If you support a policy but oppose its prerequisites, then you’re either a fool or a fraud. Or maybe both.

A realistic and sensible electric-car policy would support reliable, safe, environmentally friendly power to charge them — which means plants fired by nuclear power and fracked gas.

...

If you’re against those things, you’re not being realistic and sensible, and your policy proposals — or demands or mandates, which is what the calls for electric cars have become — should be ignored and even mocked.

Environmentalists are basically against those things, which means that they should be ignored and even mocked.

I foresee a future where cars are like the old trolleys with lines that arch above every highway in the US................

“Why is it that greens want everyone to drive electric cars but don’t want people to have electricity?”

Simple... Because they want to exterminate us. We cannot survive as a civilization if we have no transportation or refrigeration.

Shouldn’t all electric cars be Prohibited from Using Fossil Fuels for any type of charging??

The average Greenie Beanie wants things to work by magic.
Their thinking goes no deeper then this “ Put a electrical socket in a wall and out comes electrical power!”.

That ignorance is how they allow themselves to be fooled. But make no mistake, there are more powerful entities taking advantage of and manipulating that ignorance.

Everything they do is designed to cull the species to near extinction as the end result.

"Greens want electric cars — but not the things required to run them"

Greens have been indoctrinated to let government / industrial - manufactured crises bullies do their “thinking” for them, EV escapism in this example.

IMHO the greenie masters are all about control, limiting transportation, making us beg for energy.

The greenie followers just want to be with the IN crowd that yells the loudest, regardless of how little sense it makes. They don't dare be caught contradicting the narrative like us folks they call knuckle-draggers, even if they know we're right.

And trying to correct them is like explaining algebra to adolescent flatworms.*sigh*

EVs are a joke.
My in-laws leave their e-VW with us for 6 months out of the year.
Yes, I drive it and have taken several, overnight, 300 mile trips with it in the last 18 months. Drive it around town as well. Gives me first-hand knowledge about how much they suck.
I will trash it and all EVs in a heartbeat with solid user experience and well-known facts / talking points.
It’s gotten very entertaining several times at public charging stations with EV wokester soy-boys and their feminazi sidekicks when they think I’m one of them.....
Nothing real serious, but....

Highly recommend CCW at the Electrify America charging stations that are located at WalMarts next to major interstates. Easy pickens for ferals.
Just sayin’

Greens are Gnostics. They want the perfectibility of man and within their definition of perfectibility is that the evidence of man disappears when he ceases to exist.

We live our lives, when alive, and then all traces of our existence disappears when we die.

Saying “electrical powered cars” is like saying our
nuclear submarines and aircraft carriers are “steam powered”.

Enviros destroy the environment in order to save it. Wind turbines require billions of tons of balsa wood. Balsa is mostly being harvested in the rain forest. The lungs of the world. And by the Chinese. Clueless Dbags

I, too, have had an EV for a year (26K miles). My wife and I also have an ICE pickup since we need 2 cars anyway and chose to have one of each (basically choose from the best of both worlds for that day's driving needs).

On the times we go on trips we good chargers we take the EV. I too, meet other EV owners while I'm waiting 10-15 minutes to charge. When I ask them about their experience with their EV, I'm looking for technical info like miles/kWh, how much charging at home adds to their power bill, etc. Almost none of them tell me that stuff (exactly zero Tesla owners talk about those details LOL). It's always about saving the planet and them thanking me for doing my part. And I always show them this image and tell them that the Modern Warm Period is a good time to be alive (historically it's the cooling periods that cause real problems). They all think I'm the crazy one. LOL

Ah ha! Very good suggestion, eyemok/ Make them be consistent. Sustainable cars REQUIRE sustainable fuel.

I believe George Carlin identified this phenomenon as “narrow, unenlightened self-interest”. He was probably understating the problem.
