Nearly $1 billion from the Democrats’ Inflation Reduction Act will go toward climate-friendly upgrades for federal buildings, the Biden administration said on Tuesday.
According to a press release from the General Services Administration (GSA), $975 million will go toward electrification or energy efficiency upgrades to make the buildings more climate-friendly.
About 20 percent of the buildings in the GSA’s portfolio will be impacted. Twenty-eight of them will become carbon neutral and 100 more will become all electric.
The effort — which is also expected to incorporate additional private funding — is expected to avoid 2.3 million metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions over the course of the equipment’s lifetime, which is equal to the emissions of about 290,000 American homes over the course of one year.

Joe has been wrong about everything 100% of the time. They would get just about the same bang for their buck if they flushed that billion dollars down the toilet rather then invest it in green technology on federal buildings. I just paid $4.20 a gallon for 89 octane in my car thanks to the energy policies of the big moron Joe Biden.

All hail McCarthy. Thankfully trump did not endorse we any more fiscally conservative speaker nominees. We would already be experiencing the catastrophic events of the day after to mowing out this great taxpayer project.
To comply with the Climate Change Conspiracy Theory, they should remove all heating and air conditioning from the buildings thus reducing their carbon footprint dramatically.
Here is a simple sustainability upgrade for all federal buildings. Turn off the air conditioning. Years ago no federal buildings including the Capitol, the White House, and the Supreme Court were air conditioned. It was not until the early 1970s that buildings on military bases were allowed to be air conditioned. Turning off the air conditioning will result in Congress meeting from January 3 through mid-May and maybe from late September though early December and being a Representative or a Senator would be a part-time job, not a full time job. The Supreme Court will once again have split sessions.
