The West must now consider the possibility of a Russian political collapse
CNN ^ | June 26, 2023 | Stephen Collinson

Posted on 06/26/2023 7:16:21 AM PDT by Cronos

The world just got a hint of a tantalizing but possibly even more dangerous future without Russian President Vladimir Putin. The Western stakes in the Ukraine war rose significantly as a result.

A mutinous weekend that saw mercenary chief Yevgeny Prigozhin flagrantly mock the Kremlin before aborting his march on Moscow evoked Russia’s blood-soaked history of revolutions and coups. Meanwhile, efforts by the White House and its foreign allies to find out exactly what was happening underlined the volatile nature of a war that could rewrite the map of Europe and modern history. Ultimately, a civil war that seemed about to burst out was averted – at least for now.

...The West truly doesn’t have a side in the internal strife that erupted this weekend. This was a showdown between Prigozhin – whose men are accused of brutal human rights abuses in Ukraine, Syria and Africa – and Putin, who has revived World War II-style horror in Europe, who flouted international law by invading a sovereign neighbor and who faces an arrest warrant for alleged war crimes.

..After months of heavy losses on the battlefield and economic pain at home caused by Western sanctions, it was noticeable that the most potent resistance to Putin came not from a democratic movement that he spent years crushing. It was from a force even more brutal than him – Prigozhin. And another extreme and bloodthirsty war lord, Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov, offered on Saturday to help suppress the Wagner rebellion on Putin’s behalf, which is one reason why there were fears of a bloodbath on the streets of Moscow.

Howdoes Prighosion losing to Putin hurt Putin?

He crushed opposition within 24 hours.

I don’t believe Russia is about to collapse.

This is CNN, so it reflects the viewpoint of the Democratic leadership. This is not even the neoconservative group like Fox or the New York Post. We had what appears to be a failed coup. Either Prigozhin was engaged in some sort of Russian head fake to encourage NATO and Ukraine to engage in some reckless act or he actually tried a coup but failed to get the support of the Russian Army. Another possibility is that it was a stunt by Russian hardliners to end the limited war and finish the job by any means necessary

This is state generated propaganda using CNN as their mouthpiece to prop up continued support for dumping more into Ukraine. The story is a load o BS.

And the neocons, globalists and leftists continue having their erotic daydreams totally at odds with the realities in front of them. Fantasize on ZEEPERS.

They are like Hitler in the bunker at the end. This is no more than delusional ranting. The reality of this will be what they tried to do will come back on them and take them out.

The American regime needs to collapse. We don’t even have the stones to collapse the illegitimate Biden regime.

Russia can carry on. We need to contemplate how we reinstall freedom in America.

The maps are misleading. The non-Russian territories are too thinly populated to resist Russian control. The only danger is external: if China were to reclaim some of its lost territory or seek to occupy Siberia from an unstable or otherwise occupied Russia.

I clinked on the CNN link and the first thing that came up was a picture of James Clapper.

CNN has NO legitimacy as a news source and Clapper has NO legitimacy as an authoritative source for anything.

That TRAITOR signed the letter claiming that Hunter’s laptop was authentic.

Well, we should consider ALL options these days, no?

I think this episode shook Putin (and Xi) to the core. Do I think Putin is going anywhere today? Nope.

What I think people need to consider is not Putin’s popularity among the citizenry (which I doubt is really 80%) and instead consider his popularity among the Oligarchs. Their wealth has been ruined and I am sure they are at their wits end.

Public perception is critical in the West. But it has NEVER been something Russian rulers considered very important.

Putin is way passed his “use boy date” just by the nature of Russian politics. The fact that he is still in control after all these years is an amazing feat for him. I doubt there are any “good” young Russians waiting in the wings. That bodes well for his lasting a bit longer.

Although, hearing Swan Lake on Moscow TV anytime soon wouldn’t be a shock either.

"must consider the possibility of collapse" --> why did you leave out those three words and thereby give a completely different spin to the headline?

Absolute bulls**t. This guy was capable of inflicting nothing more than a mosquito bite at best though it might have caused several 100 lives, for sure, but strategically, it was a nothing.

CNN is way late to the game. Our elites at the State Department and their other propaganda organs have been predicting the collapse of Russia all along, to my recollection.

I have been saying for a while that China won’t go into Taiwan and risk war with the West. They are much more likely to make a move on the resources in the Russian East.

They will roll in there to “secure the peace and stability” of their sources.

The REM of Siberia are worth more than some political win in Taiwan—which would come along nicely in a couple of years anyway.

I see.... We (The USA) need to take advantage of the imminent Russia collapse and send more weapons to finish the job.
