Zelensky Declares No Peace Talks with Putin Until Russia Leaves Crimea and Donbas, 1991 Borders Restored

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky declared that he will not participate in any peace negotiations with Vladimir Putin until Russian forces have left the occupied Donbas region and the Crimean Peninsula.

Casting doubt on the prospect of bringing the conflict in Ukraine to an end in the foreseeable future, President Zelensky stated that his country will not entertain a diplomatic solution until Ukraine’s 1991 borders are re-established, meaning that Russia would have to retreat from its heavily entrenched positions in the Donbas and Crimea.

Ukraine wlalso wants Russian territory as repayment for the war. Belograd most likely. And the overthrow of Lukenshenko in Belarus.

Both those areas are/were heavily populated by Russians or people of Russian heritage. Kruschev messed everything up with his gift (probably illegal) of Crimea.

This was a civil war that has exploded. Russia has already held Crimean for almost 10 years.

Go back to 1991..."z" IS NUTS.

Whatever Zelenskyy says he wants, it's not with the intention of getting it. It's to justify continuing the war.

The US military industrial complex war aim is to keep it going as long as possible. To make money. Like the War on Terror in is various permutations.

Zelenskyy in their bitch.

Fighting to the last drop of other people’s blood is how any of these folks lead from the rear. No different than Putin.

Of course he may in this case be reaping some new luxury home somewhere for helping keep the money flowing to Western defense contractors from Western tax payers.

Then, Ukrainians will continue die and the country will continue to shrink eventually down to nothing.

There is no real requirement that it be he with whom negotiations take place.

His military can remove him from power, right after they kill the CIA/MI6 people there functioning as his bodyguards to prevent just that.

Russia has already held Crimean for almost 10 years....

There are better arguments against Zelensky’s demands. You cite them. But as far asholding Crimea for ten years, remember Germany held Alsace and Lorraine for almost 50 years.

Given what Zelinsky’s armed forces have to work with in numbers and support, what arms could we supply that would let them accomplish pushing Russia out to the 1991 borders? Or would Russia have to voluntarily withdraw for that ever to happen?

No matter who is in charge in Russia, Crimea will never be part of Ukraine again.

Aren’t the people in those areas ethnic Russians that want to be part of Russia?

Has anyone ever tried to explain why, in this “war”, Putin has not tried to take out Zelensky, Ukrainian government, or destroyed Kiev?

Folks can talk about how the Ukrainians are “winning”, blah blah blah. And the human loss is enormous, but it almost seems like Putin is playing pattycakes, when he could destroy the capital tomorrow.

Are you advocating for the Ukrainians to ethnically cleanse the entire East and South? You think the Russian Populations are going to allow themselves to be ruled by people who outlaw their language, overthrow their vote, outlaw their religion, and treat them as second class citizens?
