Britain’s ageing population poses a long-term threat to the economy and will affect interest rates for decades to come, Andrew Bailey has said.
The Governor of the Bank of England identified changing demographics as one of two biggest problems facing the UK and similar countries in the years ahead, along with stagnant productivity since the financial crisis.
He suggested that these challenges would have more of an impact in the long run than the war in Ukraine and the Covid crisis, which have combined to drive inflation to its highest level in decades.
Setting out the challenge from these two “long-term shocks” at a conference in France, Mr Bailey said: “One is an ageing population in the world. Two, for most of us, is very low productivity growth since the financial crisis.”

But AI is going to take so many jobs!
Saying that the ageing population is a threat is the 1st step toward Logan’s Run
Blah blah blah - We MUST have millions of immigrants!
Sounds like they are getting ready for the final and largest robbery of the baby boomers.
What could possibly go wrong?
As long as The Crown sires their offspring, carry on.
As a person who is himself aging, I resent that remark!
...play it again sam .....
I think you hit a nail square on the head ... if you have ever been to a local gov meeting of any kind , you hear GROWTH ... over and over ... growth means ...mo $$$ in the system ... bigger budgets ... higher pay ... mo power for the players.
The fed even admits that 2% inflation is their target.
I have seen the effect over a lifetime .... 2% a year over 50 years ... somebody do the math ..(my brain is still asleep)
that compounds you know.
This “growth” is why we are bringing in millions of immigrants ... to bad the powers that be don't understand that you can't just replace an American with a third world import. We are not just cogs in the machine ... we are a special culture that can't be imported.
Don’t worry, a new pandemic will finish off the aging population, which remain after the last pandemic.
When you stop and think about all the conspiracies that have been proven to be true.
I wonder if the recent pandemic is a planned prelude to the next pandemic and the vaccines which have weakened the immune systems of billions of people, where the next pandemic could be really serious.
The goal of a lot of the WEF types is population reductions because of climate change. What better way to do than biological weapon sold as a pandemic.

Given the propensities of the woke culture, is there any doubt how this “problem” will be solved? Get ready for death camps and mass extermination.
I notice it all the time. I live in a small town and often it seems most everyone I see are well over 50.
I remember when I was young there were young beautiful women and girls everywhere—now I realize that was the (later) baby boomer generation.
About the only times I see groups of people at the same age groupings I recall is when I go to travel destinations, or college towns.
Yes and the pic is sad.
Ya! So what you do is import muzzies and 3rd worlders who go on the dole and that will improve the long term economic outlook!
Aborting millions of babies has nothing to do with this problem. /s
Boomers were/are the target.
Swine flu
Bird flu
COVID Plandemic
Malaria re-surgence
Gates (mosquitoes)
Gates (vaccine research)
Soros (Blackrock & Vanguard financial manipulations)
Soros (Georgia Guidestones)
Schwab (Davos population goals)
The Boomer generation saw the fastest and largest increase in life-expectancy in history.
Because...well...Boomers
I am curious, How Japan, for instance, with it’s notoriously ageing population (they sell more adult diapers there than baby diapers and have for some time) has managed the effects upon its economy?
Yep- not one word about the immigrants who are on perpetual welfare with multiple sows who birth litters in double digits.
“Don’t worry, a new pandemic will finish off the aging population, which remain after the last pandemic.”
If we can think of it, someone already has a plan to implement it.
solent green my friends
