Ohio GOP braces for critical primary in bid to oust Sherrod Brown (McConnell-preferred pantywaist Matt Dolan will come in third AGAIN)

Republicans are gearing up for a competitive primary as they look to unseat Democratic Sen. Sherrod Brown in next year’s closely watched Ohio Senate race.

Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose (R) became the latest Republican to announce his candidacy earlier this week, joining a crowded field that includes businessman Bernie Moreno and state Sen. Matt Dolan (R).

Brown, a third-term incumbent, is seen as one of the most vulnerable Senate Democrats up for reelection next year, and the race could be key to deciding which party wins control of the upper chamber in the 2024 election.

“It’s going to be a dogfight to defeat Sherrod Brown. I don’t think anybody would say anything otherwise. If they did, they don’t know Ohio,” said one GOP strategist in the state who’s backing LaRose. “Whoever the nominee is, is going to have to run an A-plus campaign.”

Dolan ran for Ohio’s other Senate seat in the midterms last year but lost in the GOP primary to Trump-endorsed Republican JD Vance, who went on to win the general election. Dolan was the first to get in the 2024 race with the hopes of challenging Brown, followed by Moreno — who also lodged a bid for the open Senate seat in the midterms but eventually dropped out of the crowded Republican primary.

Remember last year when Moreno dropped out to help MAGA.

He should be the nominee.

"State party spokesperson Reeves Oyster said in a statement after LaRose’s announcement Monday that “the Republican ‘slugfest’ for Ohio’s Senate seat is shaping up to be another long, contentious battle that will leave whoever emerges damaged in the eyes of Ohio voters.”"

Especially when their media organs fire up and the DOJ sticks its nose into things.

“Especially when their media organs fire up and the DOJ sticks its nose into things.”

Right. They’re just resentful. Because Ohio USED TO BE pretty much a 50-50 state. Now it’s overwhelmingly Republican. Trump won by 8 points in 2020, 8 points in 2016 and JD Vance won by 6 points in 2022.

So their solid liberal Senator Brown is pretty much toast, and a contentions primary battle is their only hope of saving Brown.

Never count out the GOPe to screw up a sure thing. Cause it’s their party not the people’s.

“So their solid liberal Senator Brown is pretty much toast,”

Ahhh, just like 2018 when he was “toast” then too. Brown damn well should have been ousted in 2018, but still prevailed because excuses. There’s a 50-50 chance (if not greater) that those excuses will be necessary again.

However with this being a presidential year instead of a midterm, the Republican candidate — hopefully an *actual* Republican and not that spiteful liberal loser Dolan — should benefit from Trump being at the top of the ticket, assuming that Trump in fact IS the one at the top of the ticket.

It should go to the Secretary of State fella. He’s done his job. He’s won statewide. Ohio is more red than before. He’s the safest bet. Who go for an inexperienced unknown our loser? When the state parties picked the candidates(pre 17th amendment) these other guys wouldnt bother trying.

We absolutely need another candidate like JD Vance to take the nomination.

“It should go to the Secretary of State fella. He’s done his job. He’s won statewide.”

The polls so far suggest that Larose may be the best bet against Brown, though if Moreno is as MAGA as he claims then he’d be a fine Senator as well and not merely a Mitch Bitch like Dolan would.

The problem is obviously going to be that Moreno and Larose will split the right-ish vote leaving Dolan as the primary winner with something like 40% at most.

With Moreno having already waited for “his turn” by dropping out last time around, he may rightfully be unwilling to do so again and the end result could easily be 6 more years of the incumbent stooge. He’s far too liberal for Ohio, or so we say, yet he keeps getting in.

RED Flag in Ohio. The governor signed the bill into law. A November leftist Columbus Journal article shows the Nazism that is about to start happening in our state. Red flag isn’t mentioned in either article except to say Red Flag was stripped from the bill, which is a total lie. Most Ohioans are totally unaware of what just happened. Risk Assessments are the operative words here. They started implementation of this in my 5 county area this last week. You can bet DeWine is cheering for Dolan.

The Boehner and Kasich apparatchiks are still in control of the Ohio GOP. This won't change until grass-roots Republicans take control of the Central Committee. Seats on which still go by default to the "leadership".

I'm not much enthused about any of the (so far) three, but Moreno looks to be the least bad.

MEANWHILE there is a Special Election on August 8th to vote on a single issue - whether to raise the bar for approving Amendments to the Ohio Constitution which a present is dangerously low. A vote of YES will frustrate the left. The Democrat machine will be out in force, as they so often do to slip through local spending and bond issues while we aren't looking. 2A defenders especially should get to work, and out to vote.

Put the 2 together. It still points to LaRose. Why? I saw no election inconsistencies there while he was sos. Second, he’s worth 6 years minimum before primary voters can reevaluate. Remember, there’s an entrenched incumbent we need to take out. Ohio is right up there with Mt. and WV.

Why do I think this Aug. 8th vote is more about hurting conservatives than leftist. The Governor has been talking about Ohio having it’s own visa system! The chamber of commerce and agriculture are all for voting yes on this issue. No E-verify in this state tells you everything you want to know. The republicans are the ones who want to bring multi-plex low income housing to the rural areas in the state. Don’t ask me how I know! The bar will be raised to 60% for citizen initiatives. I’ll be voting hell NO.

“The Daily Caller also reported that LaRose has praised No Labels, a nonpartisan political group that backs gun control and amnesty for illegal aliens.”

Read the article. There is much more about this guy. I would never vote for this sellout.
