I’ll just say we are at the begining of recruitment issues... The Army and Navy are both at a more dismal point

The services have been directed not to publicly speak about their recruiting problems. The Army, Navy, and Air Force chiefs all announced in April that they will not make enlistment goals this year. This will save the embarrassment of a service having to state it only achieved 70% of its annual enlistment goal.

The new policy is to pretend everything is fine. Army units will train at 60-70% strength, the Navy will have fewer ships at sea, and the Air Force will have less flying hours.

You can play this ‘game’ for two to three years, but as each year that passes, you are giving up permanent billets. So you might have a AF unit with 110 billets on paper, and six are permanently empty because the incoming recruits/junior officers....aren’t there.

Same issue with reserve/national guard.

If you tried to bring the draft back? More than 90-percent of recruits would be physically unable to meet standards, have drug issues, refuse to take orders, or ID themselves as mentally incompetent. It’ll be curious what you are left with by 2035.
