First, They Came for Your Gas Stove. Now They're Coming for Your Hot Water Heater.

“It seems that almost everything that plugs in or fires up around the house is either subject to a pending regulation or soon will be,” Ben Lieberman, senior fellow at the Competitive Enterprise Institute, told Fox News.

Lieberman was responding to the news that the Biden administration was going to target hot water heaters for more regulation. Apparently, the regulatory gurus at the Department of Energy claim that “the new water heater standards will curb carbon dioxide emissions and save Americans billions in the long-term,” according to a Friday press release.

“Consumers aren’t going to like any of it,” Lieberman continued, according to Fox News. “These rules are almost always bad for consumers for the simple reason that they restrict consumer choice.”

The Biden administration isn’t through with American houses even after “fixing” our non-existent problem with hot water heaters. The Biden administration is planning to issue updated energy standards for other appliances, including “dishwashers, residential laundry machines, refrigerators, and boilers,” according to the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs.

But don’t worry. The administration claims it’s going to save you money

Daily Caller:

The DOE estimates that the new rule will save American consumers $198 billion in energy costs and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 501 million metric tons over 30 years, according to press release. The projected emissions reduction is equivalent to the combined annual amount of emissions generated by more than 60 million homes, or about half of the homes in the U.S., according to press release.

“This proposal reinforces the trajectory of consumer savings that forms the key pillar of Bidenomics and builds on the unprecedented actions already taken by this Administration to lower energy costs for working families across the nation,” claims Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm.

Next, they'll be coming for your electricity.

Be warned, and plan accordingly.

Careful!

If Jennifer "The Bimbo of Energy" Granholm hears about it - there'll be a new regulation next week.

RE: Next, they’ll be coming for your electricity.

I’m curious as to how they plan to do that while simultaneously pushing for all cars to be All Electric by 2035.

And how is the electricity generated to power the electric water heater?

We could save 501 million metric tons over 5 years by grounding Traitor John Kerry, Algore and Greta Thunberg while eliminating another half billion metric tons of hot air! Just dare me!

Take away the hot water heater...

and I’ll still have a hot water heater...

in the form of heating elements on stoves or stove tops.

Heck, I’d only heat my water when needed, and save money that way, since the hot water heater I have now is always running.

People can always go back to hearing water over wood logs, meaning that, there would be a lot of trees being cut down, which is the opposite of what the environmentalists had in mind.

They are planning on outlawing gasoline generators as announced a couple days ago. California already such restrictions in place.

I've already replaced my natural gas fired forced air furnace with a 95% efficient model. The water heater was replaced with a 40,000 BTU unit jetted for my 4600 ft elevation. I explored an electric tankless water heater, but my 200 AMP service is fully occupied. A tankless natural gas fired water heater has a burner with 128000 BTU. I don't have sufficient incoming air or exhaust capacity to permit that. Upgrading the exhaust from 40,000 BTU to 128,000 BTU would cost over $3,000 for the vents alone and active exhaust fans (electric powered) would be required. There is also a higher hazard of carbon monoxide and/or oxygen depletion with the flash heater, so it's not a consideration.

We’re trying motion-triggered, solar-powered lighting outside. So far so good.

I had one of those too. I had to turn on the cold water in the shower to get hot water and vice versa.

Why would anyone want to heat water that was already hot. (Hot water Heater)
Perhaps a Cold Water Heater...or best...just a Water Heater.

“At least they are not coming after my cold water heater.”

Tell me about it. You can people who have never been the plumbing business as they call “water heaters” “hot water heaters”.

...which leads to the logical question: Why would anyone need to heat already-hot water?

Side Note: There actually are “Hot Water Heaters”, as they heat up water to a near-steam temperature and then circulate it through a house, to keep the house warm.

It’s even worse than that. I remember reading about what was touted as the most sustainable village in the word, somewhere in South America. The article had a photo of a mud hut with a thatched roof and dirty-faced little boy dressed in rags.
