The only person who knows what Weiss was told and what Garland said is the Deputy Attorney General or DAG who is the #2 at DOJ.
Weiss did not talk to Garland. Garland did not talk to Weiss.
They both spoke to the DAG who supervised the investigation and plea proposal.
Weiss will get crucified. Garland will be impeached. Nobody talks about the DAG.
PS - the US attorneys in LA and DC both report to her as well and would have discussed the requests by Weiss with her.
They will protect the DAG before they protect Garland but what if he is telling the truth? He tells the DAG this is what I want. She tells Weiss what she wants. Weiss has to report to her, not Garland. Weiss hears one thing from Garland (in public) but he gets his orders from the DAG.
