A friend of mine says one of his other buddies ordered a customized Porsche, and of course it’s on that ship. It took months to build, gone for good.

When it finished burning, they will come on with a huge floating arched crane that will saw the ship and cars into manageable chunks using 6” chain; the sections will be lifted out of the water and put on barges to be sent to the scrapper.

"The EVs are working through early problems...."

Try again. There have been battery-only EVs since the 1830s. That's more than 190 years. How long you reckon before they'll have them sorted?

Yeah no worries everything will be fine. The Prius was introduced in 1997. So sure you’re right it’s only been 25 years and the problems get worse not better but hey it’s “early problems”.

Will we ever dare to transport our future EV military vehicles by Air?

“Actually, the intelligence within the battery would probably recognize that and shut it off.”

Most 18650 cells have built-in current surge protection. I’m not clear if all do. It isn’t a microprocessor-based “intelligence” at this level, more of a chemical “fuse” and pressure release. There might be additional current management at the system level.

I would say that EV’s have already used up all of their carbon credits. No more should be made.

If possible, tow it out to deep water and sink it.

And maybe - just maybe - when shipping EVs, disconnect the batteries.

I shorted an 18650 in my desk drawer once

I was smelling nasty burning plastic but could not figure out where it came from the plastic flamed up and I am lucky nothing really bad happened

>LI batteries are high in energy density

Gasoline is higher in energy density, but much less prone to go off unintentionally. And its energy can be transferred much faster and with less loss shipping it around.

Atmospheric CO2 + water + "ENERGY" = gasoline + O2

We're used to thinking of that as a right to left process but it runs fine left to right if you have enough of that magic "ENERGY" stuff. So why not take all the magic "ENERGY" the greenies claim they'll use to charge their TVs and instead use it to both make gasoline and remove 'unwanted' atmospheric CO2? Sure there are intermediate steps, but if they don't have to show their math work why should I have to show mine? Stash your gasoline factory someplace with plenty of water and somewhere where libs won't much notice whatever mess is involved. Hook it up to plenty of the greenies magically free and clean energy and let her go. Save loads of time 'recharging' gas tanks instead of lithium. Do much less damage with gasoline rather than Lithium fires, kill fewer with petro pipeline leaks than CO2 pipeline leaks. Avoid the dangerous high voltage infrastructure, and all the messy resource harvesting needed to make EVs practical.

“Atmospheric CO2 + water + “ENERGY” = gasoline + O2”

Heck of an idea. Haven’t heard that one before.

I agree that gasoline is marvelous stuff! Let’s call it a gift from God. But maybe over-used. I’m thinking of traffic jams, throwaway plastic, ...
