If you want to shake your head at what the pro-Russia side calls an expert, look up Andrei Martyanov.

He was a officer in the Azerbaijan coast guard 30 years ago. After the USSR collapsed he emigrated to the US and worked as a manager in a aerospace lab. He has zero economic or international relations credentials.

His expertise is telling pro-Russian anti-American audiences what they want to hear. He is no more qualified to talk about Russia's invasion than a random person on the street.

Treating Martyanov as Ritter's equal shows how irrelevant both of them are.

It’s my understanding Ukraine is usually losing on Sundays, Tuesdays and Fridays every other week and Russia is losing on the alternate weeks on those same days. Saturday seems to be tied day.

Truth is neither side is winning or losing and the war has likely devolved into a stalemate that will drag on for a decade or more. And the longer it goes, the more both sides will become fortified and entrenched along the front line making it even harder for either side to make any real progress.

Just look at the current battle lines, both Ukraine and Russia have been throwing everything they have into the meat grinder for the last six months with little to show for it. Russia might take a few kilometers here, Ukraine might take a few Kilometers there, but overall, the frontline has barely budged.
