Donald Trump on Sunday vehemently denied directing a staffer to delete security footage at Mar-a-Lago.
Special Counsel Jack Smith had lodged three additional charges against the embattled former president Thursday night, including over Trump allegedly telling an underling to have surveillance footage scrubbed after the Justice Department subpoenaed for it last year.
“MAR-A-LAGO SECURITY TAPES WERE NOT DELETED. THEY WERE VOLUNTARILY HANDED OVER TO THE THUGS, HEADED UP BY DERANGED JACK SMITH,” Trump wrote in all caps on Truth Social.
“WE DID NOT EVEN GO TO COURT TO STOP THEM FROM GETTING THESE TAPES. I NEVER TOLD ANYBODY TO DELETE THEM. PROSECUTORIAL FICTION & MISCONDUCT! ELECTION INTERFERENCE!” the GOP presidential contender added.
Smith’s Thursday filing also slapped charges against Mar-a-Lago employee Carlos De Oliveira, who allegedly informed the resort’s IT director that “the boss” wanted the server scrubbed. It isn’t clear whether any footage was ever deleted.
De Oliveira was hit with a charge for allegedly lying to the FBI about efforts to move boxes at the Palm Beach resort alongside Trump aide aide Walt Nauta, who was previously charged by Smith and pleaded not guilty.
The boxes allegedly contained national security documents that Trump illegally took with him when he left the White House, then lied about it to authorities afterward and kept and hid some.

Yeah, I'm sure Trump would tell an underling to relay that message to the IT director, when, if he'd given any such directive, would have made it directly to the IT director himself. What horse manure.
They threaten otherwise innocent people to ultimately turn them on the intended but innocent target. That is derangement.

Do you think the DOJ or FBI may have altered the tapes themselves? They seem to be perfectly OK with deleting or editing raw evidence to their own particular objectives.
Things are outta control here. There is no ombudsman to step in and call foul on the antics of law enforcement completely misusing the tools available to draw up a totally different narrative. Like stacking the files, which were in a SECURE location within Mar-a-Lago, out on the ballroom stage and in the bathroom in the same area. That was a posed photograph, just like the “exhibits” of supposedly classified documents, that were so famously used to create a tale of carelessly stored records, something of which the orderly Team Trump would NEVER allow or permit any of their employees to engage in.
Yet the FBI forensic team can “find nothing” in the Hunter Biden laptop. Again, protect the narrative at all costs.

Squeezing the bell-hop and janitors with prison time will get them to say anything the prosecution wants. Get it on video and watch it blow up in their faces. Trump is prohibited from speaking to other defendants.
It is his house. How can he be charged for deleting his tapes?

And if the IT Director took such an order from an underling, without
requesting that Trump confirm it, then he wasn’t doing his job.
I feel bad for the underlings he had do it. He didn’t ask his lawyers or executive types because they know better, he asked low level staff enamored with him who wouldn’t say no, and they didn’t even do it right. And now their future careers/lives are messed up
