He was on the side of black people in the struggle for voting rights in the 1960s.

We would say the urban environment of coddling criminals and keeping quiet about the rage people feel at being victimized daily was partly caused by license.

Another story. Poet and activist Allen Ginsberg when he was old and increasingly frail was followed and then attacked by teens in New York City. He grew more alarmed when they pushed him down into a basement access area below the sidewalk “so no one could see us and they could do anything they wanted to me.” They hurt his “sore ankle” where he had needed surgery and roughed him up. As a nonviolent and now helpless Buddhist he prayed for them.
He was one of the witnesses on behalf of LeRoi Jones (Muslim name adopted Amiri Baraka) for a gun violation trial.

Wikipedia lines on him:
Baraka’s work has been criticized for being racist, homophobic, antisemitic and misogynist among others.

Baraka and his writings emanated extreme and hostile anti-white sentiment. He viewed blacks as morally superior to whites, who he believed were innately evil.
