I've watched that video many times. The thug kept bragging about there was nothing the clerks could do. They finally got fed up and one held the thief's upper body down while the other repeatedly struck with some thin stick on the legs and maybe the butt. The punk was screaming like a little girl just by being hit with a thin stick. It wasn't even the thickness of a baseball bat.

My wife and I were cheering on the clerks and got a good laugh out of it. If the local DA charges them in this time when people are getting fed up with these lowlifes, I'd bet they both are found not guilty.

For those who don't know, Newsome signed legislation that any stolen property that is not above $950 is not prosecutable.

1-That stick was NOT "deadly force".

2-The clowns who believe there should be no consequences for brazen theft need to be beaten with that stick.

“The clerks are now being investigated for assault under the theory that you cannot use deadly force to protect commercial property. That’s just wrong.”

More than just wrong, we should say its damn wrong.

With current cigarette prices that trash can may have held a couple thousand $$.

Most laws are not about “justice,” they are about technicalities. The only thing that politicians hate more than criminals and members of other political parties are vigilantes. They are really afraid of the common people taking up arms and defending themselves and their property and really want to make examples of them when they do, so that others will not do the same.

I do believe in jury nullification, even though the courts hate the idea.

“...The clerks are now being investigated for assault under the theory that you cannot use deadly force to protect commercial property. That’s just wrong. ... police are investigating the clerks for criminal assault......”

"With current cigarette prices that trash can may have held a couple thousand $$."

I don't give a shit. He is a thief and a thug and deserved to be beaten with more than a skinny stick. Screw him and all his smash and grab thugs. A couple of body shots to the stomach would make a point.

I'm 73 years and have gotten to the point where I have no sympathy for these thugs. If some clandestine vigilantes started a real resistance, I would cheer them on, but couldn't help.

I believe that somewhere in the video, the thief stated that he had a gun. At that point, all bets are off and this becomes a “fear for ones life” self defense situation.

...would have been ok for many of us if they had “whacked” the sob over the head too.

In these “modern” times where crimes are most often caught on video, so that EVIDENCE is indisputable, millions of us no doubt think and agree that a mobile “judge”, on patrol in the area, should have dropped by, watched the tape and then ordered the cops to handcuff him to a telephone pole outside and let the guys beat him to a pulp. “Gals” could join in also.

Do this a few times and voila!!!......... no more robberies!

If he threatened to shoot the day before then their defense is that they thought he was armed and willing to assault at any time.

I don't see the problem with what the crook reparations agent was doing. After all, he probably had less than $950 worth of loot indemnity payments in that garbage can so there was no cause for any fuss.

However, the clerk beating his kegs with a broom handle? Even though it could barely bruise a dog that white supremacist certainly deserves jail for aggravated racial assault. That will teach him for being a racist slaveholder!
