It was a satisfying video for those who see America sinking into a criminal abyss: a brazen robber was systematically working his way through a Stockton, California convenience store's cigarette shelves, pouring hundreds of packs into a huge garbage can on wheels. Eventually, one clerk grappled with him, and another began whacking his legs with a long stick. The clerks are now being investigated for assault under the theory that you cannot use deadly force to protect commercial property. That's just wrong.

In common law, the principles applicable here are simple: you cannot use deadly force in defense of commercial (or otherwise unoccupied) property. Since the clerks only bruised the man's legs and made no effort to strike him on other body parts, it's obvious that they were not using disproportionate force.

Remember the cops are government employees enforcing government policy. Sure they may do some good but only when the government allows it. Otherwise, they will crack your head when ordered to. Might get lucky with an elected sherriff like we have where I live but the cops are best avoided at all costs. They followed government orders to NOT enforce the laws and allow crime to run rampant. And now they are going to arrest these guys who went after a criminal looting their store and threatened them with a “strap.”
democrats have declared war on productive people and have taken the side of lazy thieves. They didn’t prosecute theft during the “George Floyd” riots. They allowed theft up to $1,000 per person per day. Now we see that they are determined to jail the hard-working people who keep this country functioning.
The end goal of all this is the destruction of our economy, with widespread misery. That will precede their final push for their real goal which is the destruction of our free market system and its replacement by communism.

And it’s understandable. After all it’s only one small step from beating shoplifters to beating RAT politicians. They are both on the same page. The difference is in magnitude, not motivation.
No one will say if the creep suffered any actual injuries! For me, that’s dispositive and turns the whole notion of excessive force, and a few bruises won’t do it.
