Republicans Are Sleeping on the Gen Z Vote — it’s Going to Backfire
New York Post ^ | August 5, 2023 | Rikki Schlott

Conservative politicians are sleeping on the youth vote — and it’s a recipe for disaster at the polls. True, young people tend to tack left, but discounting the next generation as a progressive monolith is a political strategy that’s destined to backfire, especially considering that half of all eligible voters will be Gen Zers or millennials by 2028.

Although two-thirds of young voters went blue in 2020 — and many helped Democrats coast to victory in the midterms last year — it doesn’t always have to be that way. Millennials are moving solidly to the right as they age, with Biden’s 2020 margin shrinking to just half of Obama’s in 2008.

Meanwhile, the generation with the most precipitous drop in approval ratings for President Biden was actually Gen Z, plummeting a hefty 21 points between just his inauguration and early 2022.

Is it just me, or does it seem like the Republican Party hasn't wanted to be the majority in Congress since the 1920s.

Obviously, Charlie Kirk isn’t ignoring young people. There are Republicans that go to Turning Point events that fail to energize attendees. For example every presidential candidate except Trump, Ramaswamy, and the ones don’t show at all.

They had a brief resurgence in 1994. There were some good leaders (Gingrich, BOB Barr, etc.).
By the end of Clinton's presidency, they fell back into Bob Michel mode.

Why do you think that Gen Z is any difference. They don’t like their own base.

Forget where I read it, but I did read that the Milenials were tending conservative.

Disillusionment can be a powerful political motivator. I have spoken to many a Millenial who has come to the realization that they were had.

You are 100% wrong. The second that class of '94 took over, they let the Democrats rule.

Newt Gingrich was worthless. He even admitted that whenever he got in a room with Bill Clinton he melted. Then in the 2000s he made a commercial with Nancy Pelosi bowing down to her.

Remember, New Gingrich belonged to a new age cult called Tofflerism that believes abortion is a sacrament.

Turning Point is doing yeoman’s work. I get the impression those running the RNC view Turning Point the way McConnell and company viewed the Tea Party movement—a threat once there was realization it could not be co-opted.

I can remember that the Republicans did not like us kids who were next to go to South Vietnam AND the kids that were serving in SouthEast Asia AND the kids that just came back.

They did not know how to communicate with any of us.

Young people who are not progressive love sarcastic humor and satire. Don’t forget them enjoying the “let’s go Brandon” shouting at sports events. They loved “Epstein didn’t kill himself”. They listen to Ben Shapiro even if they disagree with him because they find his fast-talking spiel funny. They follow Babylon Bee and some other sites I don’t remember.
I’m talking more about young men, especially in the heartland.
These guys could be the future of the party, given the chance. Otherwise they will end up independent or not bothering to vote.
Will the GOP welcome them in and put them to work?
I hope so. I’m getting sick of old people who do not share power with the next generation. That’s a dead end street.

As a Gen X conservative, it was endless frustration being dismissed by the GOP in the 90s while Democrats actively recruited the youth vote. That cost us votes for 20 years. Let’s not do it again.

I would suggest you sit down, and really, really talk to the younger people. Don’t preach. Don’t talk about the Beatles, but actually actively listen.

There is a good, and valid, reason for their hate. To ignore it is to be blind to the things on the horizon.

Yes, the article title should read "GOP Are Sleeping..", and that could be the entire title, really. There are countless issues that the GOP/RNC could use against the Democrats, but it's hard to tell what the party (not the voters) actually believes in at this point since they are mute on almost everything.

The ONLY hope is the new “counter culture” moment comes when they see how absolutely in control of everything. BUT.... I am no optimistic as their screens pump out non stop DNC commie propaganda.

That and the illegals will outbreed any sane Americans with a fresh crop of socialist American hating voters.

They are bringing about a dismal future. 30 years from now, they will regret their insanity and anti-Christian culture they are responsible for.
