[history]
Two Stockton 7-Eleven clerks seen on video attacking a would-be thief shouldn’t expect to be charged in connection with the viral beatdown, the San Joaquin County District Attorney indicated on Tuesday.
“The Stockton 7-11 Store Clerks are not & have never been, suspects of the San Joaquin County District Attorney’s Office,” District Attorney Ron Freitas said in a statement. “Any Investigation going forward is to hold accountable the individual who threatened & attempted to rob them.”

Good thing they live in Stockton. If they lived in LA metro or the Bay Area, they would have been charged.

When anything remotely approaching justice occurs in the criminal justice system, it’s completely random chance and has nothing to do with intent or design. It’s like the blind squirrel finding an acorn.

How would they get a jury to convict? They’d be applauding when shown the video.

Only because of the media attention and the political ramifications of such a prosecution.
Don’t be surprised if the state comes in and charges them.
Someone said that the store is a very short distance from the Stockton Police Department. Wonder how long those guys have been hooking up the cops w/ free drinks, etc.

Stockton, Fresno, Bakersfield etc. shopkeepers are likely not as tolerant of thievery as their San Francisco etc. coastal counterparts.

Exactly. If they went to trial no jury would convict them. There would be a huge outpouring of support for the clerks from around the America and around the world. It would cast the DA and police department in a very bad light.

A sign of sanity in California? Amazing - it’s more endangered there than the Delta smelt.
