The 0bamas are looking to hire new cook.
Gabbard is trying out a new white stripe in her hair.

They are very busy, you must understand.

So what we need to do is put the Republicans on notice, if they don’t aggressively put this front and center, have public hearings on election fraud, WE don’t show up to vote. We have been living with one party rule for decades, even if Republicans are the majority or President we would be losing nothing we haven’t already lost. While we are at it, how about demanding hearings on media collusion with the democrats.

My guess is that the raw land is worth many hundreds if not thousands per square foot.

Historically, much of the land is owned by a handful of families who came to Hawai’i in the 1700 and 1800’s. After educating the local Hawai’ians to the finer points of property ownership and real estate management, these missionary family basically owned everything and leased, not sold, the land to developers using 99 year lease packages. It would not surprise me that the land beneath Lahaina was all leased and that the improvements (buildings) would be insured by the leasee. The state has no part in thiws transaction.

The homes were over 100 years old

The oldest home I found along Front St. with a random sampling (on Zillow) was built 1932. Most homes are rebuilds in the last 50 years or so. A 100+ year old home is going to be hard to find. The housing tracts north and east of downtown - middle class homes a little inland - are also from the last 50 years.

That said, whether code upgrades were part of the policies is another matter. That could be a huge problem for most of the working class locals.

‘100 years’ was from a reporter who has spent some time there. I wouldn’t rely on the Z. Random samples are like saying something is statistically true - random samples, like statistics, can find anything one sets out to find.

So what have the republicans done for you lately? Actually did they defend Trump and his policies while in office, which helped every American? How many fake republicans vote with the democrats are still there? Did you hear any outcry from them during the impeachments of Trump?

By not aggressively making a plan and demanding leadership from the republicans IS giving up.

So much more than what they are doing. But let’s start with this. I assume you think the country is in decline, right? Biden is NOT in control, the man who supposedly won by 7,000,000 popular votes, 51 to Trumps 46%. He is flailing, can’t speak, can’t remember and the Republicans are doing NOTHING, while this country burns. IT IS THEIR CONSTITUTIONAL duty, as the other party to be, ADVERSARIAL and if there was ever a time in this nations history to do so, it is now. YET, the Senate is silent, a few in the house speak out but there isn’t any support. The man MUST be removed and they do nothing. So why should the Republican Party even exist?

You didn't answer my question. That's OK.

The Congress in this case the House has no prosecutorial authority, all it can do is investigate. That's due to separation of powers in the Constitution. Then submit referrals to the DOJ. Useless with this DOJ! It can vote to impeach but without a Senate conviction in the Senate trial its mostly meaningless. I've been opposed to a meaningless impeachment until now. Do impeachment with this caveat, if you can force a Senate trial right before these clowns go home to run for re-election. Make them explain to the voters their lack of interest in Biden's lawbreaking and their votes if it comes up to vote to convict or not. Of course, with some Rat senators it wouldn't matter given their state Rat proclivities. It might be enough to rid the Senate of Ohio's Sherrod Brown! Maybe even Tim Kaine! The timing as to be just right, close to the election so people remember, and it could become an issue but not so close it interferes with Senate campaigns.

I have been for use of the Holman Rule. At first, I thought it didn't require the Senate. Unfortunately, after some research, it seems it does! Both need simple majorities. As far as not voting goes, that gives you the opportunity to tell yourself how wonderful you are as we all March to the gulag! Voting has two components to deny someone power & to give someone power. I almost always vote to deny someone power. I always loath & detest the Rat candidate & the GOP candidate is usually almost tolerable. In 2016 I voted to deny Hellary power! I expected very little out of Trump after all he was a New York Republican who was occasionally register as a Rat. There are pictures of him partying with the Clintons, Jesse Jackson and even Al Sharpton. I expected him to govern as the Nelson Rockefeller administration that never was. I was more than pleasantly surprised! In my estimation he out-Reagan Reagan in governing. In 2020 I voted to continue him in power. So, what's the point of this. Imagine you're in a car going 150 mph toward a cliff. Voting for a Rat & not voting (or voting 3rd, 4th or 5th party!) accelerates the car. Voting for a GOP'er even a RINO slows the car down some. We're still headed for the cliff, but we might have enough loss of momentum where with right person we get some control back. Maybe it's too late and no matter what we go off the cliff but at least I tried to stop it with my vote. I owe it to my grandchildren to make effort.

"Can’t let the peasants own that prime waterfront."

BINGO..! After the state (city ?) acquires the land for a pittance the real estate developers will swoop in and make a killing selling beach front homes, with a fine local golf course, for the well to do..

Maybe it was a well planed fire...(?)

“but at least I tried to stop it with my vote. I owe it to my grandchildren to make effort.”

Honestly appreciate your summation. In ordinary times it makes sense. But we don’t have time to “try”, which goes back to my first post. The Republicans have gotten away with their fecklessness for too many years, in fact they are more responsible for the predicament we are in than the democrats for one of two reasons, they are either terrified of confrontation or they are complicit with the DEMS. (Probably both). I have grandchildren also, and it terrifies me of what they are facing. We can vote, but it really doesn’t matter the Democrats will win.
