Adecision to effectively ban transgender women from competitive chess tournaments until further notice by the chess world's governing body has sparked a backlash on social media. The International Chess Federation, known by its French acronym FIDE, recently released an updated version of its handbook that says players who transition "from a male to a female" have "no right" to participate in official events for women until a further decision is made. That decision will be based on "further analysis" in a process that could take up to two years.

Ever get the impression, that some people are always outraged about something? So now all this transgender business is showing up in the world of chess, and the perpetually outraged are, well, outraged.
Two years? They are probably hoping this current craze goes away in the meantime, sort of like Pet Rocks and Lava Lamps.

Males have a genetic advantage over females in chess.
The difference only becomes important at the pro level.
There are no females at the very top of the chess world.
There are no females at the top of many fields...
It’s a very tiny group at the top, it’s as far from my reach as it is for any female, so I, along with 99.99% of males, have a kinship with them :-)
Just as with athletics, no XY should be allowed to compete with an XX.
For me it is entirely a fairness question.
And that “well intentioned” category allows the potential tranny scam. A ten year old female chess player might have invested years of training, and as in athletic events, a boy of the same age puts on a dress and wins the title. But in chess, a tranny “girl” might not have succeeded against a 10 year old Judit Polgar, a biological female who became a GM at the age of 15 and is now a top grandmaster in men’s events.
The runner-up boy cried when I won the chess tournament.

I agree. Men have an advantage in general, although it's not as extreme as in athletics.
