Yes, is it just me, or is this California hurricane getting more attention then the typical hurricane that strikes the east coast?
Its way more unusual for the west coast to have them.
Hilary slowed and quit being a hurricane about halfway up the Baja coast at around Cedros Island and was then considered a tropical storm. A hurricane would be atypical for the west coast, and is typical for the east coast as mentioned.

And it wasn’t even a hurricane. It was moderate rain. I won’t have to water the grass for a week, that is how it effected me.
Probably because it is the FIRST hurricane to ever hit the west coast... they have no basis for comparison. Being from South Louisiana, and having ridden out many hurricanes, I have an accurate idea of what a hurricane really is.
Stick 40 million people onto a strip of coastal land -- literally on the fault line to boot -- and have most of the entertainment industry relocate there, and coverage with "climate change" spin is unavoidable. ;^)
Well, they are hyping it for all it’s worth.
