I agree in certain cases. No reason an armed and trained cop should be dispatched for a noise complaint or a welfare check. There are endless videos of cops just doing something incredibly useless like get in between neighbors complaining about a trash can. BUT knowing liberals... They will mess it up big time and these “crisis responders” will end up dead.
Time to get out the popcorn and watch this fail abysmally.
Why did you post this as “editorial?”
If they’re trying to catch ChiCongo in body count this is a good way...
Transfer some of the powers of arrest from the police to social agencies. Treat all behavioral problems as psychiatric disorders which no one but psychiatrists can understand (or treat). The intent is to “mess it up big time”. This idea came from a “defund the police” politician, remember.

So much for "equal treatment under Law!"
Regards,
When seconds count, social workers are only days away.
I see dead people.
I’d suggest two things will occur over the next year. First, the 20-to-30 year old crisis-counselors...will last about six months before quitting because of the stress on the job. The ones who over 30...probably will call in sick more often, and unable to provide regular 40-hour weeks.
Second, in at least a quarter of the responses for the crisis-counselors....they will call the police because of threats made....so you end up with both the crisis-guy and the police at the same situation. Nothing saved on cost....just costing more.
But I will end this with the statement...cops are not crisis-counselors, and this extra training conflicts with most of the normal police training. They are simply enforcers of the law, and ensuring public safety. If you are doped-up or out-of-control....maybe a month in county jail is the best remedy for your problems.
Good job, Seattle. Might as well put out the welcome mat for criminals.
She should be the first one to go on these calls.
Gee, what could possibly go wrong?
This will last until the first “crisis responder” gets brutally attacked or killed.

Might as well put out the welcome mat for criminals.

That’s been out for years.
This is just a perk for them. Target practice.
Yeah; I’d sure work for that amount, considering all the crap they’d have to up with put!
I can only imagine the crazy “Fluffy’s up the tree again” 911 calls LE get. Seems reasonable to have someone in LE separating the “wheat from the chaff” before officers are dispatched.
I see a lot of these unarmed people getting hurt or killed. I mean since no one goes to jail, and there is no accountability, it is open season on them.
Seattle just doesn’t GET IT, do they!
...or when a "crisis responder" brutally attacks or kills someone having a mental breakdown.
