In the wake of former President Donald Trump's Georgia booking and the frenzy over Trump's mugshot, Republicans are increasingly optimistic that may win over substantial amounts of black voters as support for President Joe Biden among the demographic appears to be waning.
Polling data over the past month appears to show substantial movement away from Biden and toward Trump in terms of their 2024 voting intentions. Even the day before Trump's booking in Georgia, a McLaughlin and Associates August monthly survey showed the former president defeating Biden in a general election rematch 47% to 43%. That survey further showed Trump claim 21% support among black voters to Biden's 68%, with 11% undecided.
The poll of 1,000 likely voters did not disclose a margin of error. Still, those figures represent an upward trend from the same survey's July iteration. The earlier survey saw Trump edge out Biden 46% to 44%, though the incumbent commander-in-chief took 80% of the black vote to Trump's 9%, with 11% undecided. Collectively, the polls show a 24% swing of black voters from Biden to Trump during the one-month interval.

They were not expecting the response they received with the longed-for mugshot of President Trump. They thought he would be humiliated and are upset now because he is using the mugshot as a fund-raiser.

Nobody cares about White working and middle-class voters, apparently.
Should they be reviewing old videos to learn how to pander properly... “I ain’t no ways tired”, “I always carry hot sauce in my purse”.
Just you wait. Some GOPe will come along and throw a monkey wrench into the whole thing. Maybe Mitch McConnell will say something like, “We should cut out all funding to colleges, including historically black colleges.”
Would that be deliberate? I wouldn’t bet against it.
as one black voter said
Trump is a brother now
Trump needs to have some of his rallies in blue cities. I’d love to see him on JFK Blvd between the Art Museum and City Hall in Philadelphia. Sure it would be a security nightmare, but that’s why the Secret Service gets paid. It’s time to bring the battle into the enemies territory. Trump really shouldn’t limit himself in anyway. He should also go to California. Go to Orange County. Go to the San Joaquin Valley. Go to LA. Go to Compton.
Forget about black women, though. Lost cause.
From the start of his administration I noted that President Trump was pulling in some support from traditionally non GOP demographic groups. That there is America First in action.
GOPe don't want any of that riff-raff.
A lot of black guys can identify with the Trump mugshot photo. I don’t mean that in a cynical way. They can relate to it and makes them more likely to support Trump.
I see online quite a few black men waking up but black women not so much.
I don’t mean to be a wet blanket, but if fraud plays a role in 2024, then this support doesn’t matter.
For years, everyone has seen cities like Philadelphia, Baltimore, Atlanta, etc. deliver 95 - 110% of their votes to the Democrat. This is now the expected outcome.
If blacks get very upset with Biden? If they try to change their voting patterns? If they all come out for Trump? What will we see in the morning — 95 - 110% of their votes will be tallied for the Democrat.
And everyone will shrug and just say, “Yeah, they always do that.”
Trump is attracting black voters not average Republicans.
💯
What is an average Republican?
“… Trump needs to have some of his rallies in blue cities.”
Excellent idea. Perhaps he could finally start the rally from 2015 that was disrupted and canceled by threats of violence from the democrat left, and where the meme of white supremacy and racism was first amplified to a national news audience: Chicago.
Republican voter or Republican politician?
Two completely different things.
Free Blunts and sizzurp, nomsayin’?!?
Any pandering to blacks will be met with a greater loss of non black votes.
A meaningless phrase.
