The law prohibits the manufacture, sale, and import of assault weapons while allowing specific exemptions for manufacturers working with law enforcement and military agencies. The law does not prohibit the act of possessing assault weapons. Washington is the 10th state to adopt this kind of legislation and several federal courts have upheld these laws as constitutional.

If I were a firearms manufacturer, I would immediately STOP working with LE agencies. If they are going to enforce gun bans, they should be cut off from gun supplies.

Thurston County is the equivalent of DC in this State. During the 2020 election season, a group of us did MAGA drags into Olympia, with the purpose of going onto the Capitol grounds. We had a permit, but Antifa had shut it down and was engaged in the kind of war they do. Some of the Proud Boys were with us and warned us off of going in. Antifa had not filed a permit, but was allowed on the grounds before others. The police then acted as their barrier. THAT is Olympia/Thurston County.
It seems like the Proud Boys have a bad reputation now, but we had several interactions with these people. They were kind, well trained and existed only as a counter to the Fascists. I suppose now they are driven underground or destroyed, as a few of them worked with the Authorities, or stepped over an imaginary line.
Bob Ferguson is a DemocRAT, and a true RAT. He will be the next governor, as this state chooses who will win through their well known cheating in elections.
The change of venue will probably survive an appeal - for two reasons.
Thurston County is the state capital county, so the law being challenged was actually legislated and signed in Thurston County.
Also, Trump received 39% of the state vote in 2020, so the A.G. can claim that Thurston is representative of the entire state.

Then add “attempt” and you have another ambivalent term to seal the deal.
Better: “New Court Ruling Keeps State Weapons Ban in Place”. Then the reader can flesh out the details in the story.

The Washington State Sheriffs Assoc. came out unanimously against HB 1240 saying it's unconstitutional, only affects lawful gun owners and will not stop a criminal from obtaining the scary rifle.
The problem always lies in Olympia and with democrat politicians who want complete civilian disarmament.

The key term there is “automatic,” which the idiot reporter and probably judge don’t know (a) are entirely different from semi-automatic (as all Freepera know), and (b) were already illegal. So the so-call reason for the law and the actual law have nothing whatsoever to do with each other. Just another gun grab using the scary but meaningless term “assault weapon.”
Still, stop selling to LEOs. Teach the politicians a lesson. And let the LEOs know they don’t get a free pass with the blue suit of infallibility.
